The “will he or will he not?” question revolving around Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was finally answered by the man himself. On Tuesday, Rodgers sent out a tweet confirming that he will remain in Green Bay and play for the Packers in 2022.

Rodgers’ future was one of the hottest topics in the NFL ever since the back-to-back NFL MVP asked the Packers to trade him last offseason. In recent weeks, the 38-year-old QB considered several options, including staying with the franchise, playing for another team, or even retiring. In the meantime, Green Bay made a strong push to convince him to keep playing with the same organization that drafted him, and it appears they managed to seal the deal.

According to multiple reports, part of the Packers’ pitch was offering Rodgers a new contract that would make him the highest-paid player in football. However, the player himself called these reports “inaccurate.”

“I’m very excited to be back,” he concluded.

Aaron Rodgers played on an elite level in recent years, winning an MVP award in each of the past two seasons. He finished 2021 with 4,115 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and only four picks while leading the Packers to a 13-2 record in full games he played. However, the Packers came up short in the playoffs, which is why many people believed Rodgers would end up returning to the team for a redemption campaign.

The Packers now face a challenging offseason in which they need to put a winning roster around Rodgers despite their complicated salary cap situation. They entered the offseason being $45 million over their projected salary cap and have several key players looking for new deals, including wideout Davante Adams.

UFC president Dana White isn’t ruling out the return of former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor to the promotion. However, McGregor will have to become fully healthy in order to do so.

McGregor had his last fight in July at UFC 264, losing via TKO to Dustin Poirier in the first round.Β The 33-year-old fighter broke his leg in the process and now “needs to heal up” before stepping in the octagon again, according to White.

“It’s basically going to be all about when can he start kicking again and, more importantly, when can he start taking kicks again. That will determine when he fights again,” said White during a recent appearance on The Jim Rome Show.

McGregor, on the other hand, said earlier this month that he “could kick” again while sharing an update about his health. Despite this, the Irish fighter doesn’t seem keen on fast-tracking his return, revealing that he doesn’t “want to get too ahead of himself.”

Conor McGregor has been in and out of the UFC in recent years, even retiring from MMA a couple of times before going backing out on his decision. His last UFC win came against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January 2020, after which he took a one-year break. McGregor lost twice after that, with both defeats coming in 2021 against Poirier.

American freestyle wrestler Gable Steveson has parlayed his gold medal performance from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics into a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The 21-year-old star confirmed the news in a chat with ESPN.

“I’ve been on WWE since I was really young,” Steveson told the media outlet. “I was on guys like Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman for a very long time. So growing up watching them, me being an entertainer on the wrestling mat, it just felt like it was the right choice.”

WWE later made the announcement about signing Steveson on their official social media.

Steveson inked a multi-year deal with the promotion but won’t make the transition to WWE right away. The agreement allows him to finish his senior year at the University of Minnesota and have a chance to defend the national championship he won this year. At the same time, he will learn the intricacies of WWE wrestling to get ready for his debut in the promotion in 2021.

After an impressive outing at the Olympics, Gable Steveson received interest from UFC and even thought about pursuing an NFL career. But in the end, WWE convinced him to enter the world of showbiz and follow the footsteps of other talented wrestlers-turned-WWE stars like Kurt Angle and Lesnar.

Steveson has a 35-6 freestyle career record and a 67-2 NCCA record that started with a 30-matches unbeaten run. Besides the Olympic gold, he also has two gold medals from Cadet World Championships, one gold medal from Junior World Championships, and one gold medal from Pan American Championships.

The exciting 2020 Tokyo Olympics wrapped up on Sunday with Team USA edging out China and the ROC (Russian Olympic Committee) to finish first in medals.

The players from the United States hauled 113 medals, including 39 gold, 41 silver, and 33 bronze. China had 38 gold medals and 88 overall in second place, while ROC ranked third with 71 medals.

Team USA had an overwhelming lead entering the final day of the Olympics in overall medal count but found itself behind China in the gold medal count. The difference was made up thanks to the women’s basketball team, who got the gold with a dominant 90-75 win over Japan, as well as cyclist Jennifer Valente, who finished at the top of the omnium points race, and the women’s volleyball team. The final gold medal for Team USA was also a historic one as it marked the first time that the United States claimed Olympic gold in women’s volleyball.

The United States swimming team gave the biggest contribution to the gold medal count, winning 11 competitions. Swimmer Caeleb Dressel was also the most decorated U.S. Olympian in Tokyo, winning five gold medals.

Iconic sprinter Allyson Felix also gave her contribution, helping Team USA to win the 4x400m relay gold medal on top of her bronze in the individual 400m. This gave Felix her 10th and 11th Olympic medals, making her the most decorated track athlete in U.S. history.

The next Summer Olympic Games are scheduled to take place in three years. The Olympics will be held in Paris, France, from 26th July to 11th August 2024.

After starting the 2020 Tokyo Olympics men’s basketball tournament with a narrow loss to France, Team USA bounced back with a blowout 120-66 win against Iran.

The U.S. men’s basketball team was led by Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damien Lillard, who scored 21 points while dishing five assists. Kevin Durant scored 10 points and added five boards and five assists. Durant now needs just six points to break Carmelo Anthony’s USA Olympic scoring record.

All 12 members of the U.S. men’s basketball team registered points against Iran with six going double digits in scoring.

Elsewhere, U.S. Olympians in other competitions had their own share of success.

Katie Ledecky bounced back from a poor start at the Olympics to win her first gold medal in Tokyo. She finished first in the first ever women’s 1500m freestyle race, while her Team USA teammate Erica Sullivan took the silver.

Ledecky previously took silver in the 400m free while finishing fifth in the 200m free.

The United States are currently leading the medals haul at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with 30 medals including 10 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and nine bronze medals.

Meanwhile, U.S. gymnast Simone Biles decided to withdraw from individual all-around finals despite being the favorite to win the gold medal in the event. Biles, who was set to defend the gold from the 2016 Rio Olympics, said that she decided to skip the competition in order to focus on her mental well-being.

Biles previously removed herself from the Team finals on Tuesday. Team USA finished the event second, taking home the silver medal.

Next week, Biles is scheduled to compete for medals in four additional individual events. At the moment, it’s unclear whether she’ll take part in them.

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has been retired for almost three months now, and there are no indications that he’s considering a return to the octagon. But that won’t stop UFC President Dana White from trying.

In a recent chat with ESPN, White revealed that he’d meet with Nurmagomedov in Abu Dhabi in the coming days and hopes to convince him to do one more fight for UFC.

“I’m obviously meeting with him because I think that he should fight again,” said White. “I think he should fight again and I’m going to press him as hard as I can for one more.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement in October after defeating Justin Gaethje to defend his UFC lightweight belt for the third consecutive time. At the time, Nurmagomedov said that his mother doesn’t want him to fight without his father Abdulmanap, who died earlier this year.

Nurmagomedov retired undefeated but lacked just one more win to have a 30-0 record in MMA. This is where White sees his chance.

“He’s been through so much, and losing his dad was a major blow to him. Yet, his dad wanted him to hit 30-0,” he added.

In case that Nurmagomedov remains set on retirement, Conor McGregor will get a chance to fight for the title if he beats Dustin Poirier later this month.

Kamaru Usman has a new (and old) challenger for his UFC Welterweight belt.

According to multiple reports, Usama is set to defend the title against Gilbert Burns in February at UFC 258. The two fighters already verbally agreed to a five-round fight, although no contracts have been signed yet.

Kamara Usman and Gilbert Burns were set to fight back in July, but Burns contracted COVID-19, and the fight was canceled. Jorge Masvidal stepped in as a challenger, but Usman managed to keep his belt by winning via unanimous decision.

Usman is 17-1 in his MMA career and 12-0 since coming to the UFC. The 33-year-old fighter won the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 235 against Tyron Woodley and has since defended it twice.

Burns, on the other hand, has a 19-3 career record while being 12-3 in the UFC. He has fought in both lightweight and welterweight competitions during his time with the promotion but has yet to have a title fight.

The fight between Usman and Burns will not only be interesting due to the fact that they are considered UFC’s best welterweight fighters. The two also share a history, having trained together in the same gym for years.

Anthony Pettis, the former UFC Lightweight champion, will be fighting under new promotion next year. Pettis decided to join the Professional Fighters League on a multi-fight deal, with the move being confirmed on Wednesday.

Pettis completed his UFC contract earlier this month with a win over Alex Morono at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. The 33-year-old later fighter announced that he decided not to accept the offer to stay with the promotion and will instead see what the market offers.

Reportedly, Bellator and ONE showed a strong interest for Pettis, but he ended up choosing PFL as they came in with the best offer.

“I’m looking to make a run at another world championship, and the PFL format will allow me to do that in 12 months and do it again the following year at 170 pounds,” said Pettis. “The offer the PFL gave me was extremely fair and they presented it as a partnership. Ready for a new chapter and a fresh start. Gonna be a fun ride.”

Anthony Pettis made his MMA debut in 2007 with GFS and went on an 8-0 run that saw him win the GFS Lightweight Championship. In 2009, Pettis joined the WEC, where he also won a belt while posting a 5-1 record.

Pettis signed with the UFC in 2011 following an appearance on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter, and needed only three fights to get a UFC Lightweight champion belt. He defended his title once, before losing it against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 185.

Pettis had three fights in 2020, starting the year with a loss to Carlos Diego Ferreira but winning against Donald Cerrone and Morono. He has a 24-11 record in MMA, with 11 of his wins coming via knockout.

While former UFC champion Conor McGregor keeps insisting that he is retired from mixed martial arts, it looks like he is still not ready to completely cut the ties with the organization that made him one of the most popular fighters in the history of the sport.

While recently speaking with SportsCenter, UFC president Dana White said that McGregor is set for a comeback in 2021.

“We’re actually working on some fun stuff for Conor at the beginning of next year,” said White.

White couldn’t confirm that McGregor will fight, but promised his involvement with UFC in some manner.

“He should be back next year,” he added. “I’m not saying he’s coming back to fight, guaranteed, but we’re talking right now about some stuff.”

When approached about White’s comments, McGregor’s agent Audie Attar confirmed that his client had “some very interesting talks with the UFC recently.”

“We are excited about the future and working on some fun things. Exciting things to come in the near future,” Attar revealed.

Conor McGregor decided to retire from mixed martial arts back in June, saying at the time that the sport isn’t exciting to him anymore. However, the news was met with skepticism as McGregor retired and then staged a comeback several times before.

McGregor, who has a 22-4 career record, had his last fight in January when he defeated Donald Cerrone with TKO at UFC 246.

Jon Jones, one of the best MMA fighters in history, has announced on Monday that he is vacating the UFC light heavyweight title. He held this belt on several occasions for more than a decade.

Jones broke the news on Twitter, writing that the title is now “officially for grabs.”

This, however, won’t be the last we’ll see from Jones in UFC. Shortly after, the 33-year-old fighter wrote that he had “really positive conversation” with the organization about competing in heavyweight.

Jon Jones and UFC have been on bad terms for some time, getting in disagreement over Jones’ earnings. The fighter claimed that he was underpaid and demanded a better contract, while UFC’ President Dana White said that Jones has exaggerated demands. It remains to be seen whether the two sides can overcome their difference in order to facilitate a heavyweight fight.

Jon Jones (26-1) was never defeated by a fighter in his MMA career, with his only loss coming from disqualification in a fight against Matt Hamill. Jones won the UFC light heavyweight title first time in 2011 and has since defended it 11 times. He was also stripped of the belt several times and had to win it again.

Jones’ last fight came in February when he defeated Dominick Reyes by a unanimous decision.
