Linebacker Jamie Collins is close to finding a new job in NFL after recently being released by Cleveland Browns. According to multiple sources, Collins agreed to terms with New England Patriots and the two sides will finalize the deal in coming days.

This will be a reunion for the 29-year-old and the Pats, as he was drafted by the organization in the second round of 2013 NFL Draft. Collins’ first stint with New England was more than a successful one, as he spent four years with the franchise and won a Super Bowl while also earning one Pro Bowl appearance along the way.

Jamie Collins had a solid season with the Browns in 2018, leading the team with 104 tackles and also contributing with 4.0 sacks and one interception. Still, Cleveland decided to move on from Collins since he was one of the highest paid linebackers in the league but never quite managed to justify the money invested in him. He was set to earn $10 million this season, and $12 million in 2020.

In New England, Collins will face a tough competition to earn a starting job considering the team’s loaded LB core. Dont’a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy are considered to be favorites for the starting position, while Ja’Whaun Bentley, Elandon Roberts returns, and Christian Sam will all try to throw their name into the mix as well.
