Despite being out for two months due to an injury and his New York Yankees struggling in 2023, reigning AL MPV Aaron Judge still managed to put his mark on this season. Judge hit his 250th career home run in a 6-2 win over the Houston Astros on Friday and became the fastest player to reach the mark in MLB history.

Judge needed 810 games to get the 250 homers. By doing so, he surpassed Philadelphia Phillies’ legend Ryan Howard, who reached the mark in 855 games. The 31-year-old is now also in the top 10 on the Yankees’ all-time list in career home runs.

“I really don’t think about it,” Judge said via New York Post about his achievement. “When you see the guys that are on the list, especially Ryan Howard, who was one of the greatest power hitters … it’s pretty cool to be on that list.”

Judge would probably reach 250 career homers earlier in the year if it wasn’t for a toe injury that limited him to just 81 games this season. He is batting .265 and has 30 home runs and 57 RBIs for the season.

The absence of Judge also attributed to the Yankees’ poor performances. The New York team is currently fifth in AL East with a 66-69 record and will most likely miss out on the postseason. That would be the first time the Yankees are not in the playoffs since 2016.

The New York Yankees announced on Wednesday that their star slugger Aaron Judge had been placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained big toe. Judge suffered the injury after making a highlight-reel catch in a 6-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yankees made several other moves, placing RHP Ryan Weber on the 60-day injured list and signing outfielder Billy McKinney to a major league contract.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, the Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone said that Judge’s X-Ray test showed there are no breaks or fractures in his big toe.

“I think it definitely could have been worse,” said Boone. “I feel like he’s going to be all right, he just needs some time now. Hopefully, it’s on the shorter side of things, but the biggest thing is getting the swelling out of there. Look, any time you lose Aaron Judge for any amount of time, and he goes on the IL — hopefully, it’s a short one — you don’t like that.”

The play that caused Judge to injure his toe has already been labeled as the catch of the season. With the Yankees up 5-3, the reigning AL MVP made a full-speed run to catch a ball launched by Dodgers’ J.D. Martinez in the right field. While doing so, he crushed into the bullpen gate, stubbing his big toe in the process.

Aaron Judge has decided to remain at the Yankees, agreeing to a nine-year, $360 million contract with the team, sources confirmed on Wednesday. This comes after the 30-year-old player entered free agency at the conclusion of the season.

Judge enjoyed a historic season with the Yankees, hitting an American League record of 62 home runs, thereby breaking the record set by Roger Maris in 1961. In addition, Judge hit .311/.425/.686 with an American League-leading 131 RBIs, thereby earning his first MVP award.

“We’d love to have our player back,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said of Judge. “We would love to continue to call him our player every step of the way as he follows what looks like — as long as nothing happens — a career path that will lead him to Cooperstown. I would like him to be in pinstripes every step of the way.”

The star outfielder was drafted by the Yankees as the 32nd overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. He has since been named an All-Star on four occasions and has 220 homers and 497 RBIs to his name.

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge has been voted player of the year as well as the American League outstanding player. Judge received these honors at the annual Players Choice Awards from the Major League Baseball Players Association, where his fellow MLB players voted to award him these accolades.

Judge enjoyed a prolific season, setting an AL record with 62 home runs. This sees him break the previous record of 61 homers set by New York’s Roger Maris back in 1961.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor received the honor of the Marvin Miller Man of the Year; an award that is given to a player who voters believe has inspired others with their leadership. A member of the union’s eight-man executive subcommittee, Lindor played a significant role in labor negotiations.

Steve Rogers, a former pitcher and longtime special assistant on the union’s staff, was awarded the Curt Flood Award for the advancement of players’ rights and devotion to the union.

The rising stars who were awarded for their efforts were Seattle outfielder Julio Rodríguez, AL outstanding rookie, and Atlanta pitcher Spencer Strider, the NL outstanding rookie.

Other winners on the night included St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who was voted National League outstanding player, Houston’s Justin Verlander, who was named both the AL outstanding pitcher and the AL comeback player, and Miami’s Sandy Alcantara, the winner of the NL outstanding pitcher award.

The New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is now in sole possession of the American League’s record for most home runs in a single season. Judge launched his 62nd home run in a 2-3 loss to Texas Rangers on Tuesday night, breaking a tie with Roger Maris.

Judge hit the record-tying 61 home runs last week against the Toronto Blue Jays but then had a five-game stretch without a homer. However, the 30-year-old needed only one inning to get to the magical number against the Rangers.

“It’s a big relief. I think that everyone can sit back down in their seats and watch the ballgame, you know? No, but it’s been a fun ride so far,” Judge said after the game via ESPN. “Getting a chance to do this, with the team we’ve got, the guys surrounding me, the constant support from my family whose been with me through this whole thing … it’s been a great honor.”

Besides owning the AL record, Judge is also sixth on the MLB’s all-time list for most single-season home runs. At the top of the list are Barry Bonds with 73 homers in 2001, Mark McGwire with 70 homers in 1999 and 65 in 1998, and Sammy Sosa with 66, 64, and 63 homers in 1998, 2001, and 1999 respectively.

Aaron Judge is close to walking away with a Triple Crown in AL this season, being first in home runs and RBIs (131). His .311 batting average is only second to Minnesota Twins’ Luis Arraez, who has .315 for the year.

There are now six players in the history of MLB that have managed to hit at least 60 home runs in a single season. The newest member of the 60-homers club is the New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge, who reached the mark in 9-8 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.

Judge hit his 60th home run of the 2022 season in the ninth-inning to help the Yankees turn the game around after 4-8 deficit. The 30-year-old slugger is now one homer shy from the all-time American League record set by Roger Maris in 1961.

“I’m trying to enjoy it all, soak it all in, but I know I still have a job to do out on the field every single day and I just have to keep my head down, keep preparing and stay mentally focused,” said Judge of his achievement.

While Judge tried to downplay his historic run, there is no doubt he is putting up one of the best seasons in MLB history and is rightfully an MVP favorite. On top of his 60 homers, Judge also has .316 batting average and 128 RBIs, both career-highs. Thanks to his stellar performances, the Yankees are comfortably sitting at the top of AL East with 89-58 record.

With 15 games left to be played in the season, Judge will have plenty of time to tie Maris’ record and eventually break it. However, getting close to Barry Bonds’ record of 73 home runs in a single MLB season stills seems out of reach.

Superstar outfielder Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees returned from a right calf strain on Wednesday night in the Yankees’ 2-1 Game 2 doubleheader loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Unfortunately for the Bronx Bombers, Judge wasn’t even able to complete the entire game before exiting yet again with a calf injury.

The two-time All-Star and 2017 American League home run leader departed after feeling his calf “cramp up” while running the bases in the fifth inning on Wednesday. Manager Aaron Boone replaced him with veteran outfielder Brett Gardner as the team looked on in disbelief as their superstar fell injured yet again.

Boone said that it is “possible” that Judge will have to return to the injured list, but that the team would evaluate their star again on Thursday before making a decision.

The injury is yet another blow for the 28-year-old slugger, who has missed a total of 119 games due to various injuries over the past three seasons.

Judge has been deadly at the plate while healthy this season, batting .292 with 9 home runs and 20 RBI in only 18 games of action.

The Yankees, who currently trail the Rays by 2.5 games in the AL East, will now cross their fingers that Judge is able to return to their lineup soon without missing any more time on the injured list.

The New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge has been off to a flying start to the 2020 season and only got hotter over the past five games. He smacked a home run in his fifth consecutive game on Sunday night against the Boston Red Sox, leading the Yankees to the sweep and their sixth straight victory.

Judge’s Sunday night blast came in the eighth inning with two outs against Sox reliever Matt Barnes. The gargantuan 468-foot blast untied the game, giving New York a 9-7 lead that they would not cede.

The two-time AL All-Star and the 2017 AL Rookie of the Year has missed 110 games over the past two seasons due to injury, but has proven himself to be one of the game’s biggest bats and most terrifying power threats for opposing pitchers when healthy.

The former Fresno State Bulldog smacked 52 home runs in his only full season in the Majors in 2017, quickly gaining admiration around the league for his potent bat.

Judge is already up to six home runs after eight games in the pandemic-modified season, easily outpacing the MLB for the league’s home run lead.

The slugger will have the opportunity to go for a sixth consecutive day with a home run on Monday night against the Philadelphia Phillies.

It seems like the fact that New York Yankees’ star outfielder Aaron Judge missed almost half of the 2019 MLB season didn’t affect his popularity among baseball fans a bit. Major League Baseball revealed on Friday that Judge had the top-selling jersey for the third consecutive season.

Judge managed to claim the No.1 spot by beating out Philadelphia Phillies’ free-agent acquisition Bryce Harper. Harper previously became the athlete with the most sold jerseys in a single day when he inked a $330 deal with the Phillies.

Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs’ Javier Báez are ranked third and fourth respectively, while NL MVP Christian Yelich (Milwaukee Brewers) made it to the fifth spot. Yelich particularly made a big jump in jersey sales as he didn’t even crack the list last year.

Notable omissions this year include third baseman Manny Machado, who signed a $300 million deal with the San Diego Padres before the season start.

The top 20 list of best-selling jerseys in MLB includes 10 infielders, seven outfielders, two pitchers, and one catcher while having members of 12 different teams.

The New York Yankees have gotten off to a terrible start to the season in terms of injuries.

On Saturday, their injured list crisis grew even deeper.

Star outfielder Aaron Judge was forced to leave New York’s game against the Kansas City Royals after sustaining an oblique injury after swinging the bat in the sixth inning of Saturday’s game.

Judge lamely made his way to first base and then was immediately removed due to pain in his side.

While the exact extent of his injury is still unknown, manager Aaron Boone said that he is in all likelihood heading to the injured list.

That makes Judge player number twelve currently on the shelf for the Yankees at this point in the season.

New York is also currently without key players such as Giancarlo Stanton (biceps injury), Luis Severino (rotator cuff inflammation), and Gary Sanchez (strained calf).

Losing Judge for any extended amount of time would be a big blow for the Yankees’ lineup. Judge is one of the premier sluggers in the game, and he’s already belted 5 home runs and collected 11 RBIs on the young season.

The Yankees will hope that Judge’s oblique injury is minor and that he will miss as little time as possible.
