The post Future of Bears QB Mitch Trubisky Uncertain After Playoff Loss to Saints appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>That didn’t happen, with the New Orleans Saints easily cruising to a 21-9 win over the Bears in their Super Wild-Card matchup on Sunday.
Earlier in the season, Trubisky was benched in Week 3 after a slow start leading the offense. The team was handed over to journeyman quarterback Nick Foles, who quickly showed that he was not the answer at quarterback either.
Trubisky then got his job back in Week 12 and showed significant improvement in his play at the end of the regular season. However, reports claimed that the improvement he showed wouldn’t be enough to save his job unless he led a deep playoff run.
The New Orleans Saints and their veteran quarterback Drew Brees made sure that wasn’t going to happen. Brees threw two touchdown passes and star running back Alvin Kamara ran in another one to give the Saints an easy 21-9 win.
Trubisky went 19 of 29 for 199 yards and threw one touchdown at the end of the game that was completely inconsequential as the Saints had already secured the victory. The Bears were also poor in the running game, managing only 48 yards from scrimmage on the ground.
The Saints will face Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the next round, a team that they have already beaten twice this year.
The Bears will have a very important offseason ahead of them in which they will have to decide whether they are going to give Trubisky another shot or move on from him and find another quarterback.

]]>“Not really, I ain’t ever held out in my life,” said Kamara when asked to comment the reports. “That’s about it.”
Kamara’s absence from practices was reportedly without excuse, although the 25-year-old RB experienced back issues at the same time and underwent epidural treatment.
“I came to the building every day,” he added. “That’s all I’ve got to say.”
During Alvin Kamara’s absence, his camp and Saints engaged in active contract negotiations, but the team briefly entertained the idea of trading the player at one point. Things settled once Kamara returned to practice, and the two sides remain committed to making a deal, although they are considerably apart at this moment.
Kamara, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, is considered one of the best dual-threat backs in the NFL and has three consecutive Pro Bowl nods. However, his value is still unclear compared to recent extensions give to running backs. He is unlikely to get $16 million annually that Carolina Panthers’ gave Christian McCaffrey but is expected to top Joe Mixon’s recent $12 million a year deal with Cinncinati Bengals.
Kamara rushed for 2,408 yards and 27 touchdowns since becoming a third-round pick in 2017, while he also accumulated 243 receptions for 2,068 receiving yards and 10 TD.

]]>According to sources, it’s believed that Kamara is not happy about his contract situation and that he is looking for an extension before the beginning of the season. New Orleans coach Sean Payton was recently asked by the press if Kamara was nursing an injury, but he declined to comment on the situation.
The situation is surprising to many, considering that Kamara stated in early August that he was not worried about contract negotiations with the Saints. However, it appears that this might have changed recently.
Kamara is easily one of the top five running backs in the NFL, who might even be the best of the bunch when it comes to catching balls out of the backfield. According to Spotrac, his current value is estimated at a four-year contract worth about $60 million. This seems about right, considering that it would make him the third-highest-paid running back in the league behind Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey and Dallas’s Ezekiel Elliot.
A standout performance in 2020 might help to get him an even larger contract than that, but it seems that Kamara would rather get an extension done before the season starts if possible.
