“That was the worst pain I’ve ever felt… praying for nothing serious,” Andreescu wrote on Twitter in a post to her fans. “Still waiting on official results. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and kind words, doesn’t go unnoticed. So much love. Y’all are the best.”
This is the third time in the 22-year-old player’s career that she has had to withdraw from a match due to injury. Her opponent Alexandrova will face Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

]]>Andreescu, currently ranked No. 7 in the world, made her last tournament appearance at the 2019 WTA Finals. She made it through the first set of the Singles Round Robin match against Karolina Pliskova before having to retire due to left knee issues.
One year later, however, Andreescu resumed training and is ready to continue her quest for more Grand Slam glory.
“I’m doing really well,” said Andreescu in a chat with Tennis Majors website on Wednesday. “The virus kind of pushed me back, and some little personal things here and there, but right now I’m good, I’m training hard … I’m really looking forward to 2021.”
Bianca Andreescu had a career year in 2019, managing to reach No. 4 on the WTA rankings thanks to the US Open title, which was her first career Grand Slam win. She also went on to post her best results Australian Open and French Open, while also winning the Indian Wells Open and Canada Open.
