The Boston Bruins capped off their dominating 2022-23 campaign by breaking the NHL single-season wins record. With a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, the Bruins got their 63rd win, which is the most by any team in a single season in NHL history.

The previous record of 62 single-season wins was set in 1995-96 by the Detroit Red Wings and later matched by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2018-19.

Forward David Pastrnak scored a hat-trick, while Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha each added one goal to propel the Bruins to a historic victory.

“It’s been a lot of fun, I’m not going to lie,” Pastrnak said after the game. “It’s been enjoyable, especially the group we have here. We obviously knew the stakes, and it’s definitely special to hit it in a game like this. Made history today in the biggest league in hockey.”

The Bruins will have the opportunity to further improve the record as they have two more games left in the regular season. And they will get a chance to make more history if they get points when they face the Washington Capitals and the Montreal Canadiens to wrap up the regular part of the campaign.

Boston is currently at 131 points in 2022-23 and have a chance to also set the NHL’s all-time mark for most points in a single season. The Canadiens team from 1976-77 currently holds the record with 132 points.

The Boston Bruins defeated the Tampa bay Lightning 2-1 on Saturday night to claim the Atlantic Division title and secure their place in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Saturday’s win sees the Bruins extend their NHL-best record to 56-11-5.

Boston’s 56th win this season puts them just one victory behind the franchise’s best record set in the 1970-71 season. With 10 regular season games remaining, the Bruins remain on pace to break the all-time NHL record for victories in a single regular season.

Patrice Bergeron scored a power-play goal for the Bruins, while Garnet Hathaway scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period to hand the Bruins the victory. Linus Ullmark proved to be an effective goaltender, saving 26 shots on the night.

“That’ll get you excited for playoff hockey, yeah,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said during the postgame press conference.” The Bruins next face the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday night.

The Boston Bruins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 7-1 on Thursday night, becoming the fastest team in NHL history to score 100 points in a season.

David Pastrnak and Dmitry Orlov emerged as standout players on the night, both scoring a goal and delivering two assists each, while Jakub Lauko scored twice. Jeremy Swayman proved to be the Bruins’ savior in front of the net, stopping 26 shots.

Following Thursday night’s victory, the Bruins have now gone 48-8-5 in 61 games. This record beats that of the Montreal team that reached 100 points in 62 games in 1976-77; an era where there were no extra points for an overtime or shootout victory.

Breaking Montreal’s record was not the only talking point in what was an eventful day for the Bruins. The team signed Tyler Bertuzzi from Detroit while Pastrnak agreed to an eight-year, $90 million contract extension.

“Probably took a little longer than we hoped for, but we finally got across the finish line,” Bruins president Cam Neely commented. “We’re thrilled to have him for another eight years.”

The Boston Bruins have set a new NHL record following their 3-2 victory in overtime against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday evening. Now, the Bruins hold the record for most consecutive home victories to start an NHL season with 12. The previous record of 11 straight home wins held by the 1963-64 Chicago Blackhawks was equaled by the Florida Panthers last season.

“We talked about it after the second [period] going into the third,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery admitted following the win. “There’s been a lot of great teams in this league, and you’re able to set a precedent, break a record. It’s pretty special, and it doesn’t happen if those guys don’t believe in themselves like they do.”

After going two goals down in the first period, the Bruins turned their fortunes around when David Krejci put Boston on the scoresheet with 31 seconds left in the second period. Krejci scored again with 9:33 left in the third to force the game into overtime. A power-play goal from David Pastrnak sealed the comeback win for the Bruins.

Sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, the Bruins next face Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.

The Boston Bruins set a new team record for consecutive home wins on Sunday night after defeating the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 at the TD Garden. This is the Bruins’ ninth consecutive home victory, resulting in a 9-0 record.

Patrice Bergeron scored to bag his third goal in two days while Brad Marchand got his fifth goal in just eight games this season. Also getting their names on the scoresheet were Connor Clifton, Pavel Zacha, and Tomas Nosek, who scored in an empty net with just 1:58 left on the clock.

Boston’s previous record for consecutive home wins was set in the 1983-84 season when the Bruins won eight consecutive games at the old Boston Garden arena.

“I think everyone’s contributing and playing for the team. I think that’s the biggest thing right now,” Burgeon said of his team’s strong start to the season. Currently, the Bruins sit on a four-game winning streak and have an overall record of 14-2-0.

Currently top of the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, the Boston Bruins have a packed schedule ahead. The team next faces the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night before hitting the road to play the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.

The Tampa Bay Lightning steamrolled the Boston Bruins 7-1 in game three of their Eastern Conference Second Round playoff at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Wednesday.

The standout performer of the night was Nikita Kucherov, who scored four points for the Lightning. His tally brings him level with Vincent Lecavalier, Tyler Johnson, and Brayden Point for most points in a playoff game in Lightning history.

Ondrej Palat grabbed himself a goal and an assist, while Alex Killorn had two goals and an assist. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 23 saves for the Lightning, making him the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper was in disbelief following the final buzzer. He stated, “Come on, let’s be honest, this is an aberration…This doesn’t happen in playoff hockey. They’re the Presidents’ Trophy champions. You turn the page on this one just like you turn the page on an overtime thriller. You can’t hang your hat on that one.”

This game sees Lightning take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven game series. While the first game ended in a 3-2 victory for the Bruins, Lightning bounced back to win 4-3 in a dramatic overtime victory. The next game takes place on Saturday at the Scotiabank Arena.

Boston Bruins were the best team in hockey during the regular 2019/20 NHL season, boosting a 44-14-12 record through the first 70 games. Despite this, they won’t be the top seed, or even the No.2 seed, once the Stanley Cup Playoffs kick off next week.

The top four teams in each conference resumed the 2019/20 season following coronavirus pandemic break with a round-robin tournament that helped the NHL determine the seeding for the postseason. This was made in order to give these teams “meaningful games” ahead of the playoffs.

Bruins entered the tournament with a lot of rust and lost the first two games including the matchup against Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. This made it mathematically impossible for Boston to claim either of the top two seeding spots.

“That part sucks. I’m not going to lie to you,” said Bruins’ head coach Bruce Cassidy. “But that’s the situation this year with the stoppage in play. We knew the rules coming into it that we would lose a bit of the advantage we gained.”

Boston Bruins will have their last round-robin game against Washington Capitals on Sunday. The outcome of that game will most likely determine whether Bruins enter the postseason as No.3 or No.4 seed.

The No.1 seed will now be determined between Lightning, Capitals, and Philadelphia Flyers. Tampa Bay has the best chances of securing the top spot, having a perfect record since the restart.
