]]>Snitker, who was named the Braves’ manager halfway through the 2016 season after the team’s dismissal of Fredi Gonzalez, will be sticking around with the team through the 2021 season along with the rest of his coaching staff.
The Illinois native has won back-to-back division titles with the Braves, accumulating a 318-292 (.521) record since taking over. The 64-year-old has spent the entirety of his playing and coaching career with the Atlanta organization.
Anthopoulos was not only given a contract extension to be the team’s general manager through the 2024 season but was also promoted to the president of baseball operations. The former Blue Jays GM has had a highly successful tenure since taking over at the helm of the Braves in November of 2017.
The Braves have made the playoffs, winning their division in both of Anthopolous’s seasons with the team.
Atlanta is expected to compete for a division title as well as the World Series crown in 2020, thanks in large part to young stars such as Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies.

]]>While the A’s were eliminated in the playoffs and the Red Sox won the World Series, Melvin was the favorite to win. He opened the 2017/18 season with the lowest payroll among all MLB managers. His squad wasn’t the strongest but was able to spearhead them to the playoffs and win nearly 100 games.
At the event held on Tuesday, Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker won the manager of the Year Awards in the National League, beating Milwaukee’s Craig Counsell and Colorado’s Bud Black. As it has become a norm, the honors in recent years have gone to the most surprising managers. The A’s may not have won any trophies in the season but they caught the league unawares with their great performance.
Snitker’s win was also unexpected. He was named the Braves’ interim manager at the beginning of the season but managed the team with long-term goals. The 63-year-old led Atlanta to 90 wins and won the NL East title.
The Cy Young Award and the MVP honors will be announced later in the year.
