]]>Winters was Jets’ starting guard since 2015 and the franchise’s longest-tenured player on the roster. Despite this, the organization decided to cut him on Sunday, clearing his $7.3 million salary off their books.
Bills signing Brian Winters makes sense for both sides. Buffalo previously lost their starting right guard Jon Feliciano to a season-ending injury, and will now replace him with an experienced veteran. The team previously considered Cody Ford for the job, but can now keep the 2019’s second-round pick on right tackle position
Winters, on the other hand, gets a starting job on a competitive team that seems to be destined for playoffs. Despite entering the league in 2013, the 29-year-old player is still stranger to postseason football as Jets missed out on playoffs in the past nine years.
Winters, who was a third round pick out of Kent State, played 89 games in his pro career and has 79 starts. Although he is right guard by vocation, he is capable of playing left guard as well.
