After a successful 2018/19 season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Brook Lopez positioned himself as one of the most sought-after middle-tier free agents on the market. It seems, however, that Bucks will not give him up without a fight.

Lopez managed to establish himself last season as a floor-spacing center with an elite 3-point shot for a big man. Since this is becoming an increasingly desirable trait in the NBA, many teams will be chasing the 31-year-old come July. And while he will definitely explore the market, Lopez reportedly wouldn’t mind staying in Milwaukee.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated recently reported that there is a great chance Brook Lopez and Milwaukee Bucks find common ground on a long term contract. According to Mannix’s sources, both sides are “motivated” to get a deal done.

Bucks made several roster moves in the recent weeks including moving Tony Snell to Detroit Pistons. With this trade, the team is able to create $6.3 million in cap room, which allows them to offer Lopez around $15 million annually, which is the figure he would reportedly command on the free market.

Lopez signed with the Bucks in summer of 2018, after Los Angeles Lakers decided not to offer him an extension. He started 81 games with Milwaukee and 12.5 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 0.352 from the 3-point line.
