After spending the 2022 season out of the league, the former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is ready to return to the NFL. In order to prove that he still has the skills to do it on the highest level, the 2015’s MVP appeared on Auburn’s pro day on Tuesday and threw around 30 passes to a group of young receivers.

Newton played his last college season at Auburn, helping the Tigers to win the national title in 2010. He also won the Heisman Trophy in the same season before becoming the first overall pick by the Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Newton came to Auburn’s pro day after being invited by his younger brother and wide receiver Caylin Newton. The veteran delivered a number of deep throws while also mixing in some of his trademark scrambling moves.

“This was him showing love to me,” Caylin Newton told reporters. “He doesn’t owe anybody anything. He has had an amazing journey, an amazing career in the NFL. He has nothing to prove to anybody. … He came to show his ability, show he still has it.”

Cam Newton last played in the league in 2021, when he returned to the Panthers after a stint with the New England Patriots the year before. However, it wasn’t a successful reunion as Newton lost all of his five games as a starter and finished the campaign with only 684 passing yards and four TDs while throwing five picks.

What seemed impossible just a few days ago is a reality today. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton made a stunning return to the Carolina Panthers and signed a deal with the franchise until the end of the 2021 NFL season.

The move sees Newton re-joining the team he led to the Super Bowl in 2015 and spent most of his NFL career with. It is also the team that unexpectedly decided to release him after the 2019 season.

The Panthers confirmed the news on their social media on Thursday.

This unlikely scenario happened because both sides needed each other. Newton was without a team after being cut by the New England Patriots in the offseason and struggled to find a job. The Panthers, on the other hand, were thin at the quarterback position after starter Sam Darnold suffered a shoulder injury that will sideline him for four to six weeks.

According to ESPN, Newton’s will earn a $4.5 million guaranteed salary for the remainder of the season while pocketing an additional $1.5 million in roster bonus. He will be able to earn up to $10 million combined based on bonuses.

It is unclear whether Newton will step in as a starter right away or if the Panthers will wait and see what they have in backup P.J. Walker. Head coach Matt Rhule announced earlier this week that Walker will be under center in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals, but that was before they signed Newton.

Cam Newton entered the NFL as Carolina’s first overall pick in 2011. In his first stint with the franchise, he led the team to three NFC South titles and four postseason appearances while making Pro Bowl three times and earning the NFL MVP Award in 2015. The Panthers decided to release Newton in early 2020 after he struggled with injuries for a couple of previous seasons.

Newton spent the last season with the Patriots, making 15 starts and leading the franchise to a 7-8 record.

The New England Patriots are starting the Mac Jones era sooner than expected. The Pats announced that they’ve released last year’s starting quarterback Cam Newton, clearing the way for rookie Jones to take the reins of the team’s offense for the 2021 NFL season and beyond.

New England’s head coach Bill Belichick was tight-lipped about his plans for the quarterback position throughout the preseason. Still, nothing indicated that the Pats were preparing to cut ties with Newton. It was believed that the 2015’s NFL MVP would end up getting the nod to start while Jones, who was the No. 15 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, sits behind him and learns the intricacies of quarterbacking at the NFL level.

Still, it appears that Jones’ good performances in the preseason and maturity he showed since joining New England prompted Belichick to give him the starting role right away. The Alabama product also drew praise from the Pats’ veterans, with offensive tackle Trent Brown saying that the rookie “can be special” and special teamer Matthew Slater calling him “a great young man”.

Jones completed 36 out of 52 passes attempted in three preseason games while throwing for 389 yards and one touchdown. He had a great training camp as well and impressed in a recent joint practice with the New York Giants.

Newton, on the other hand, had 162 passing yards with one score and one interception in the preseason action.

Cam Newton joined the Pats ahead of the 2020 NFL campaign after being released by the Carolina Panthers. He started 15 games, leading New England to a 7-8 record and throwing for 2,657 yards and eight touchdowns.

Newton re-signed with the Pats in March, inking a one-year deal that had a potential value of $13.6 million.

It’s the end of an era in the AFC East, the NFL division that the New England Patriots have dominated for over a decade.

After losing to their divisional rivals the Miami Dolphins 22-12 on Sunday, the Patriots have officially been eliminated from the playoffs. This will be the first time that New England will not make a postseason appearance since 2008.

A day earlier, the Buffalo Bills secured the AFC East title with a statement 48-19 win over the Denver Broncos. This is the first time that the Bills will finish first in the division since 1995.

Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who led the New England dynasty for a better part of the last two decades and won six Super Bowl titles with the team, left during the offseason to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. New England replaced him with veteran Cam Newton, who was released by the Carolina Panthers in the offseason after a string of injuries.

New England came into the season this year with a deficit of talent and a number of key players choosing to sit out the season due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The future is uncertain in New England for the first time in a long time, with future Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick facing a complete rebuild and the major task of finding Brady’s replacement, with most experts under the impression that they will be moving on from Newton in the offseason.

The New York Jets are not having a good season.

After losing on Monday night to the New England Patriots on a last-second field goal, the team is now 0-9 on the season, which is the first time in franchise history that the Jets have opened a season with nine straight losses and counting.

New York was in the game for the majority of it but collapsed in the 4th quarter to allow the Patriots, who are also a team destined to start a rebuild next year, to take the game 30-27.

Even though there are still seven games left to play, the Jets are almost certainly going to have the top pick in the 2021 NFL draft. This means that they are going to have to decide whether current quarterback Sam Darnold, who was hurt and didn’t play last night, is the long-term answer.

Most believe that the Jets will restart at the quarterback position with Trevor Lawrence, the Clemson star who most believe will be the first player taken in the draft and who many say is the best QB prospect coming out of college since former Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Andrew Luck was drafted in 2012.

The Jets will almost undoubtedly also fire head coach Adam Gase, who has been on the hot seat for over a year now and hasn’t been able to make the team competitive or help Darnold take his game to the next level, which he was brought in to do.

The New England Patriots currently have a record of 2-5 and for the first time in 12 years, it looks as if they might not be making it to the playoffs.

Asked by the press to explain the Patriots’ current struggles, head coach Bill Belichick said that these problems were bound to happen, stating that the franchise has recently put the short-term view ahead of long-term goals in order to win championships.

Giving a radio interview on Monday, Belichick cited giving current quarterback Cam Newton a one-year, $1 million contract, adding that “it’s obvious we don’t have any money.”

The future Hall of Fame coach added that the current salary cap deficiencies are the result of selling out over the last five years to win three Super Bowls, play in a fourth, and play in an AFC championship game.

The team parted ways this offseason with Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback to ever play for the franchise, who led Belichick’s team to an unprecedented six Super Bowl titles.

Brady, who is 43-years-old, is thriving this year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who already had a loaded roster that was missing one key piece, a quality quarterback.

The Patriots, on the other hand, look to be entering a complete rebuild of the roster. Newton, the former league MVP who was signed late in the offseason to lead the Patriots offense this year, has struggled and might not be part of the team’s plans going forward, despite his resume.

The New England Patriots have confirmed that their star quarterback Cam Newton has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list.

According to team officials, Newton has entered self-quarantine and all of the players and staff that have been in close contact with the quarterback have been given tests, adding that no other tests have come back positive as of yet.

The Patriots were scheduled to play in one of the most highly anticipated games of the season this week, battling the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. However, the NFL will look to reschedule the game, hoping that it will be able to be played either on Monday or Tuesday night if no other positive test results arrive in the meantime.

If they do end up playing, it will definitely be without Newton. The Patriots are expected to move on with veteran backup Brian Hoyer, who will start at quarterback until Newton is able to return. The only other quarterback on New England’s roster is rookie Jarrett Stidham, who the Patriots selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft.

Newton signed with New England this summer to take over for Patriots legend Tom Brady, who left the team after 20 seasons.

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton will have a team in the 2020 NFL season after all. According to multiple reports around the league, Newton agreed to a one-year deal with the New England Patriots.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reports that Newton’s contract with New England could be worth up to $7.5 million. However, his salary is expected to be mostly based on incentives.

Newton, who was the most prominent name left on the free-agent market, is expected to be in the mix for the position of Pats’ starting QB in Week 1. His competition includes second-year player Jarrett Stidham and veteran signal-caller, Brian Hoyer.

Cam Newton spent his entire career with Carolina Panthers, serving as the face of the franchise since being selected No.1 in 2011. During his time in Carolina, he led the Panthers to four postseason appearances and the first Super Bowl in the organization’s history.

However, in the past couple of seasons, Newton struggled with injuries and was limited to just two games in 2019 due to Lisfranc fracture. The health issues, and occasional inconsistency, eventually cost him his job as Panthers released him back in March, deciding to start fresh on the QB position as part of the major organizational overhaul.

During his nine seasons in the NFL, Newton established himself as the game’s best dual-threat quarterback. He has 29,041 career passing yards and 182 passing touchdowns alongside 4,806 rushing yards and 58 rushing TDS. His career achievements include three Pro Bowl appearances and NFL MVP award from 2015.

One of the most curious cases of this year’s NFL free agency is quarterback Cam Newton. Despite all of his accomplishments in the past, including the MVP award in 2015, Newton remains unsigned this late in the offseason.

Many believed that Newton’s best chance to land a starting spot this year were Los Angeles Chargers, who were also viewed as the best fit from a football standpoint. As it turns out, Chargers had a similar idea before opting to move forward with veteran Tyrod Taylor and second-year player Easton Stick and spend the No.6 overall pick on Oregon’s signal-caller Justin Herbert.

“We did take a look at that,” Chargers’ head coach Anthony Lynn said when asked whether they were interested in Newton.

Still, according to Lynn, he felt optimistic about the players he currently has on his disposal.

“I feel really good about the quarterback room that I have,” he added. “With Tyrod Taylor, Easton Stick — those are guys that a lot of people don’t talk about, but he was a Division I AA — he won like three national championships. He’s a hell of a leader, hell of a professional, and I think he has a bright future in this league one day.”

Since being released by Carolina Panthers in late March, Cam Newton was linked with several teams, but neither made him a good enough proposal. According to reports, Newton is now considering to enter the regular season as a free agent and wait until an opportunity opens up for a starting gig. It’s unclear whether he’s willing to take up a backup role.

Carolina Panthers’ crowded quarterback room is suddenly not so crowded. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Panthers intend to release veteran Cam Newton, while trading third-year signal-caller Kyle Allen to Washington Redskins.

Panthers’ have allowed Newton to seek a trade last week, but no NFL team was willing to give anything substantial for the 2015’s NFL MVP. Moving Allen proved to be a lot easier, as they received a fifth-round pick from the Redskins for the 24-year-old.

By moving Newton and Allen, the Panthers are now left with a clear quarterback situation. Teddy Bridgewater, who recently signed as a free agent, will be team’s starter for 2020, while last year’s third-round pick Will Grier will back him up.

Cam Newton should have plenty of suitors now that he’s a free agent, but only if he proves he’s healthy. Newton missed 16 games in the past two seasons, struggling with shoulder and foot injuries. This was one of the reasons why the team was not willing to surrender significant assets to get him.

When healthy, however, Newton is a game-changing quarterback. He is known for his mobility and has even improved as a passer in recent years. If he manages to land in the right kind of situation, with New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers being among options, there is no doubt that the 30-year-old can get his career back on track.

Kyle Allen, on the other hand, will get reunited with former Panthers’ head coach Ron Rivera in Washington. Allen is expected to fight for the starting spot with the 2019’s first-round pick Dwayne Haskins.
