]]>Although the Nets failed to disclose further details of the deal, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that LeVert signed a three-year extension worth $52.5 million. This new contract will keep him in Brooklyn until the summer of 2023.
“Caris personifies what it means to be a Brooklyn Net, and we firmly believe his best basketball is in front of him,” – said Nets’ general manager Sean Marks in a statement. “The growth he has displayed in his first three seasons is a testament to his tireless work ethic, along with an unrelenting will to maximize his talents and achieve team success. Our entire organization is excited to continue to have Caris as one of the leaders of our program moving forward.”
Caris LeVert was drafted 20th overall in 2016 NBA Draft by Indiana Pacers but ended up being traded to Brooklyn Nets shortly after. After a solid rookie season, in which he almost made the NBA All-Rookie team, he impressed in his sophomore year averaging 12.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
LeVert followed this up with breakthrough performances at the start of 2018/19, but his stellar season was limited to 40 games as he missed time with a severe leg injury. Still, he managed to contribute with 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
“It means a lot. When I got drafted, this was the vision. We try and maximize our potential…we’ve been working and can’t wait to get started.” – said LaVert following the extension signing.
