Tennessee Titans didn’t wait for long to find a replacement for departed kicker Cairo Santos. The team announced on Tuesday that they have signed former Chicago Bears’ K Cody Parkey.

Titans decided to cut Santos on Monday, just a day after he missed four field goals against Buffalo Bills and largely attributed to his team’s loss. The 27-year-old joined Tennessee in September after starter Ryan Succop landed on the injured reserve list. He was perfect from both FGs and extra-point attempts in the first four weeks.

Parkey, on the other hand, has been unemployed since March, when Bears released him following a disappointing 2018 season.

Cody Parkey entered the league in 2014 and has since spent time with six NFL teams. He signed with the Chicago Bears in 2018, getting a four-year deal after a standout performance in the 2017 NFL season with Miami Dolphins. His time with the Bears, however, wasn’t so great.

Parkey played all 16 regular-season games in 2018, but only made 23 out of 30 FG attempts and finished the year with a disastrous FG percentage of 76.7. His struggles continued in the postseason when he missed a 43-yard game-winning field goal against Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC wild-card playoff game. All of this caused Chicago to release him despite the fact he had a $3.5 million guaranteed left on his deal.
