]]> Delon Wright performed impressively in a short cameo with the Memphis Grizzlies last season after heading over from the Toronto Raptors in the Marc Gasol deal. The 27-year-old guard put up the best scoring and assist marks of his short career in semi-regular playing time.

He showed enough, in fact, that the Dallas Mavericks decided that they wanted to acquire him and add them to their roster, which will be shooting for a playoff appearance next NBA season.

The Grizzlies agreed to sign Wright to a three-year, $29 million deal and then deal him to Dallas in exchange for two future second-round NBA Draft picks.

Wright will now head to Dallas, where he’ll join the Mavs to share a backcourt with talented players such as Luka Doncic, Seth Curry, and Tim Hardaway Jr. He’ll almost certainly be a bench player primarily, but he’ll be an important piece for the Mavericks as a defensive stopper and change of pace.

The Utah alum averaged 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game on 43% shooting during his short 27-game stint with the Grizzlies. The Mavericks hope to get this type of production from the late-blooming point guard over the next several seasons.
