Four-time All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins is going to wait until 2020/21 NBA season to return to basketball. Cousins reportedly declined offers from multiple NBA teams, who wanted to sign him ahead of NBA resume in Orlando next month.

Cousins hasn’t played basketball in 2019/20 at all, sitting out the season with a torn ACL. Considering that this is his third major injury since January 2018, the 29-year-old now doesn’t want to take a risk with a speedy return and wants to continue rehabbing.

Reportedly, there is still a chance that Cousins changes his mind before the NBA closes its transaction window ahead of season resume. The player’s agent Jeff Schwartz recently told Tania Ganguli of The Los Angeles Times that his client might be persuaded to make the trip to Orlando, but only with a team “he feels comfortable playing.”

DeMarcus Cousins last played in the NBA during the 2018/19 season, when he averaged 16.3 points and 8.2 rebounds in 30 regular-season games with the Golden State Warriors. His contributions in the playoffs were less impressive, as Cousins missed most of the postseason with a quadriceps tear.

Following his stint with Warriors, Cousins signed with Los Angeles Lakers ahead of 2019/20 seasons, hoping to create a super team with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, his time in Staples Center came to an end before it even began, as he tore his ACL in one of the team’s preseason workouts. Lakers waived him in February to clear a roster spot.

New York Knicks are making backup plans if they strike out on superstar free agents this summer. According to the New York Times’ Marc Stein, Knicks are considering making a short-term deal offer to free agent center DeMarcus Cousins.

Stein reports that Knicks’ primary targets come July will be Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Kawhi Leonard. In case they don’t land any of them, the team will then turn to Cousins and make him a “considerable one-year offer” to get him in New York.

New York Knicks have space for two max contract free agents this summer, which they previously reserved for Durant and Irving. However, Durant’s injury and the fact that Irving is leaning towards Brooklyn Nets, is forcing Knicks to think about other options. Signing Cousins and some other quality role players on one-year deals would allow the team to be in playoff consideration next season while also being able to return to free agency in the summer of 2020.

After being out for almost a year with an ACL injury, DeMarcus Cousins returned to court in January with Golden State Warriors. He finished the season averaging 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists per game. Considering the fact that he played on $5.3 million deal last season, Cousins is now expected to demand a much higher number. If Warriors are willing to offer him that, he might consider staying in Golden State.

“I’m open,” – said Cousins when asked about staying with the Warriors following the NBA Finals. “We’ll see what happens.”

After Golden State Warriors’ center DeMarcus Cousins tore his left quadriceps muscle in the first round playoff series against LA Clippers, it looked like the 28-year-old will be out for the rest of the postseason. Still, it seems like Cousins’ recovery is going pretty well and he might play again if Warriors make another deep playoff run.

Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr recently spoke with reporters about the injuries of DeMarcus Cousins and Damian Jones and said that both players might step on the court again before the 2018/18 NBA season wraps up.

“It’s a possibility he could be back. Same with DeMarcus,” – said Kerr on Sunday.

“He’s coming along pretty well and so we’ll just wait and see,” – he continued on Cousins. “He’s had just normal progression from the injury.”

Although it seemed like Cousins’ injury didn’t slow the Warriors down, he was still an important piece for the team in the regular season. Since coming back from Achilles injury he suffered in January 2018, he played 30 regular season games and averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 rebounds.

Golden State Warriors are currently battling Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Semi-Finals with the Warriors being ahead 2-1 in the series.

The Golden State Warriors’ all-star lineup saw a new addition make it even stronger on Friday night.

Center DeMarcus Cousins, previously of the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans, shocked the basketball world when he signed an inexpensive contract to play for Golden State last offseason.

The four-time NBA All Star took a massive pay cut in order to be able to play with the Warriors for a season in search of an NBA title.

Cousins was sidelined for nearly a year after rupturing his Achilles’ tendon in a game with New Orleans last January. On Friday night, he made his return to the court with his new team.

Cousins only saw the court for 15 minutes before fouling out, but he made an immediate impact in Golden State’s 112-94 road win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

He scored 14 points and added 6 rebounds and 3 assists despite looking somewhat rusty. Warriors coach Steve Kerr demonstrated the team’s belief in him, however, by immediately using him as a starter last night.

The Warriors, currently in first place in the Western Conference, hope that Cousins will spark them in their pursuit of a 3rd consecutive NBA title.

You the saying “The rich get richer”? Well, that seems fitting for the situation Golden State Warriors are in, after adding fifth All-Star to their roster. In a surprising turn of events, DeMarcus Cousins decided to sign with the Warriors on a one-year, $5.3 million deal.

The deal was first reported by ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The reason why the Warriors managed to get an All-Star caliber player at this price is DeMarcus Cousins’ torn Achilles. Cousins suffered the injury in late January and will be recovering at least until early 2019, which made teams reluctant about offering him a big deal. Before the injury, the 27-year-old averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists and was even in MVP talks, heading to a max-deal in the summer. Now, he decided to sign with the best team in the league, hoping to get healthy (winning an NBA championship in the process) and then explore the free agency in 2019. He was earning close to $17 million last year.

According to sources close to the situation, Cousins didn’t have many long-term offers to start with and then started exploring other options including the Warriors. He was also talking with the Boston Celtics. His New Orleans Pelicans decided to go with Julius Randle and didn’t even consider bringing Cousins back.

DeMarcus Cousins was taken fifth overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. Although he established himself as Kings’ franchise player, the organization decided to move on from him due to Cousins’ bad temper and frequent conflicts with the coaching staff. He was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans alongside Omar Casspi in the February 2017 for Tyreke Evans, Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, and 2017 first-round and second-round draft picks.
