Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott says he’s “definitely ready” for Thursday’s opening NFL game against the Tampa Buccaneers. Prescott’s season last year came to an abrupt end as he suffered a compound fracture and dislocated his right ankle.

Now, after nearly 11 months of preparation, he’s back.

After a recent Cowboys practice session, Prescott said from team headquarters: “I’m definitely ready, I love it the way it is (and) wouldn’t want it any other way, to be honest. I love night games. Love playing on prime time. I think it’s just set for the perfect stage. Them coming off the Super Bowl title, and us, having fans back to full capacity, I think this is what the NFL and the world needs.”

“From the shoulder to the leg to my mind, I’m ready to go.”

In a recent practice recorded by HBO’s Hard Knocks, Prescott tells his teammates: “I ain’t scared. I put a little touch on that one, it worked out. Let’s be smooth, let’s run fast, let’s get in and out.”

Fans will be watching the quarterback closely during Thursday’s big game. There is certainly much hope that his comeback will be just as electric as he plans it to be.

Every since star quarterback Matthew Stafford got traded to the Los Angeles Rams, drama has surfaced regarding who he didn’t want to play for. According to a report, Stafford was interested in going to many teams except for one: the New England Patriots.

However, when Stafford was asked whether or not he told the Detroit Lions not to trade him to New England, his response was different than the story that was told.

In an interview with Detroit Free Press reporter Mitch Albom, Stafford recounted: “What’s accurate is—and this is an incredible thing by [the Lions]—I asked to go to a team that was ready to win a championship. And, you know, there were a few teams on that list. There were a few teams that were not on that list. And they were respectful of that and understood completely. I had thoughts and reasons for each one of them.”

However, the initial report, which was made initial by NBC Sports Boston reporter Tom E. Curran, sung a much different tune. As Curran wrote, “Stafford told the Lions they could send him anywhere but New England.”

Regardless of what actually happened, Stafford is now a member of the Los Angeles Rams. He’ll add veteran leadership to their quarterback slot.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are officially the NFL champions, after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV on Sunday night.

The fact that they won wasn’t a shock, considering they were led by legendary quarterback Tom Brady. What was surprising, however, was the manner in which they did it.

As good as Brady is, no one expected Tampa Bay to blow out Kansas City in such an embarrassing fashion. Many expected it to go down to the wire, and most people favored the Chiefs to win.

After all, the Chiefs were not only the defending champions, but also the clear best team in the league throughout the entire season, sporting a league-best 14-2 record. Led by MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes, they ran a tight ship, one so dominant that even Brady should’ve had his hands full with.

The result Sunday night was quite different, with Brady picking apart the Kansas City defense like it was nothing. He ended the game with 21 pass completions out of 29 attempts, along with 201 passing yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns were to tight end Rob Gronkowski, who he’d already had much experience playing with during their time on the New England Patriots.

However, a lot of credit must be given to the Tampa Bay defense, who essentially neutralized Patrick Mahomes like no one had ever seen before, sacking him three times and intercepting him twice. Indeed, this Super Bowl game was the first time in Mahomes’ entire career that he had lost by double-digits, a shocking statistic. Even more shocking was the fact that the Chiefs didn’t score one touchdown the entire game.

“They took away our deep stuff,” said Mahomes. “They took away the sidelines, and they did a good job of rallying to the football and making tackles.”

However, Mahomes is still 25 years old and should have plenty of new opportunities to add more Super Bowls to his resume. Meanwhile, the 43-year-old Tom Brady clearly wanted to show everyone why he’s the greatest football player of all time. After winning his 7th Super Bowl in convincing fashion, you’d be hard put to find someone who disagrees.

When Tom Brady left the Patriots to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season, it was like a mirage that didn’t even feel real. Brady and the New England Patriots have always been synonymous, as was their constant ability to rack up Super Bowl victories.

And yet, people still questioned whether Brady was the key factor behind New England’s success, as opposed to longtime coach Bill Belichick being the mastermind behind it all.

Lo and behold, this is Brady’s first season on another team, and guess what: he’ll advance to the playoffs once more, while the Patriots will be watching the postseason from home for the first time in a record-long 11 seasons.

The man is 43 years old and still dominating a star-studded league like it’s child’s play. He pulled out all the stops on Saturday, beating the Detroit Lions 47-7 to clinch a playoff spot in convincing fashion.

Throwing for 348 yards to go with go four scores in the first half alone, Brady continues to add to his legacy in such a way like we’ve never seen before.

Oh yeah, and Brady also broke Tampa Bay’s franchise record for most touchdown passes in a single season.

Whether he wins the Super Bowl or not, one thing is certainly clear: it’s never been this difficult to doubt the man’s greatness on the football field.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had remained silent for some time with regards to quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has found himself without a job in the league since the 2016 season.

The former Super Bowl quarterback, who spent seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, found himself at the center of a controversy related to civil rights issues. Many of his supporters claim that the league has “blackballed” him thanks to the controversy surrounding his actions.

Now, it appears, however, that Commissioner Goodell would like to see a team take a chance on signing the quarterback, who is still only 32 years old.

In a special on ESPN which aired on Monday night, the commissioner stated, “Well, listen, if he wants to resume his career in the NFL, then obviously it’s gonna take a team to make that decision. But I welcome that, support a club making that decision and encourage them to do that.”

He went on to say that in the event that a team doesn’t offer him a contract, “If his efforts are not on the field but continuing to work in this space, we welcome him to that table and to help us, guide us, help us make better decisions about the kinds of things that need to be done in the communities.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Kaepernick will get the chance to return to the league that he has long hoped for, but the commissioner’s green light seems to be a positive step towards that goal.

Francesco Totti stunned everyone announcing that he will be resigning from his role as the director of the Serie A club Roma.

Totti is considered one of the most devoted European footballers having spent 30 years with Roma, filling many roles for the famous club. Il Capitano, as the Italian media calls him, holds a few records including being the second highest scorer in the history of the Italian League with over 300 goals and having the most official Roma appearances – a fantastic 786.

Totti joined the team in 1989 and left July 2017.

In the last season, Roma finished sixth and missed out in didn’t place in the Champions League. Apparently, the relations between Totti and president James Pallotta had worsened. ‘I resign as a Roma executive, I was hoping that this day would never come but instead, this ugly and heavy day has arrived’ said Totti during the press conference with the media.

The obviously shaken Totti added that this was far worse than retiring as a player and that leaving Roma was like dying and that he felt like it would be better if he died.

Nevertheless, Francesco Totti remains an icon and his undying loyalty to AS Roma makes him an even bigger legend.

In an unexpected move on Thursday, the Arizona Cardinals decided to cut bait with cornerback David Amerson, releasing him into the NFL’s free agent pool.

Not many people expected Arizona to make this move considering the team’s lack of depth in the secondary. Amerson was expected to be a starter in the Cardinals’ defense next season while Patrick Peterson serves a suspension for the first six games of the season.

Instead, the Cardinals decided that they preferred to release the veteran cornerback and clear way for younger players such as rookie Byron Williams to start during Peterson’s absence.

Robert Alford, who the Cardinals signed to a three-year deal in the offseason, is expected to start in the other cornerback slot next season.

Amerson will surely be a serviceable find for whichever team picks him up after his release. While he is not a superstar, the North Carolina State graduate had started 5 games for the Cardinals after they signed him in the middle of last season. He’s spent six seasons in the NFL, compiling a total of 234 tackles and 9 interceptions.

Now, Amerson will look to the free agent market for a new team and the Cardinals to look to their younger options at cornerback to take the veteran’s place.

The Tennessee Titans announced on Wednesday their plans to retire the jersey numbers of the franchise’s two biggest icons.

Quarterback Steve McNair and running back Eddie George, who teamed together to lead one of the late 1990s and early 2000s’ most potent offensive attacks, will be immortalized by the team by having their #9 and #27 jerseys retired.

This means that no player in the future of the Titans’ franchise will ever wear the number 9 or the number 27 again.

The numbers will be retired during a ceremony at the Titans’ home opener against the Indianapolis Colts on September 15th, 2019. This will be a special moment for Titans fans, who watched as McNair and George led the team to a Super Bowl bid and several playoff appearances during their time with the team.

George was one of the best running backs of his era, as he accumulated 10,441 rushing yards and 78 total touchdowns in a career in which he spent 8 of 9 seasons with the Titans franchise.

McNair, the quarterback for the Titans in this period, was also beloved by his team’s fans. He was named NFL MVP as the Titans’ QB in 2003 and made 3 Pro Bowls.

He was tragically murdered by a jilted ex-lover in 2009.

The Titans’ home opener will be a sight to see for football fans from all over the world.

After long and complex negotiations, the Seahawks and Russell Wilson have finally agreed to a deal.

Wilson has signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension with the team that makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL.

The contract also includes a $65 million signing bonus which Wilson will receive up front.

Wilson announced the news first-hand just before a self-imposed midnight deadline that he had set for a new deal with the team with a video posted to his Twitter account.

In addition to making him football’s top earner, his new contract guarantees that he will stay in Seattle through the 2023 season.

The 30-year-old was granted a no trade clause in his new deal.

Wilson has become one of the most elite quarterbacks in the league over the past several seasons.

He led the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl trophy after leading them to Super Bowl XLIII.

Wilson had arguably his best season as a pro in 2018, passing for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns, and only 7 interceptions. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the sixth time in his career.

Seattle and Wilson can sleep peacefully now, knowing that they’re both set for the future.
