Chargers announced on Wednesday that Henry injured his left knee in the Week 1 game against Indianapolis Colts. He was hurt in the fourth quarter according to Chargers’ head coach Anthony Lynn, but ended up playing in overtime despite that.

“He came back in. No one knew he was hurt,” – Lynn told reporters. “Says a lot about his toughness.”

According to Lynn, the team hopes Henry will recover sooner than expected, which is the reason why they didn’t place him on the Injured Reserve list. The projections are that the 24-year-old TE might be back in four to six weeks.

“We’re not putting him on IR,” – he added. “We’re hopeful to get him back.”

Chargers drafted Hunter Henry in 2016 with the 35^th overall pick, and he immediately went on to catch 36 passes for 478 yards and eight touchdowns in his rookie season. Henry followed this up with another productive year in 2017, when he had 45 receptions for 579 and four TDs. However, this is when the injuries started piling up.

Before the 2017 NFL season ended, Henry found himself on the IR with a lacerated kidney. Then, during the OTAs in 2018, he tore his ACL and missed the entire regular season. He did, however, managed to come back in the playoffs and play 13 snaps against New England Patriots.
