The 10-time All-Star guard is set to play alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, along with Russell Westbrook, who played with Harden at the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets.

Harden is “ecstatic” about his move, sources have claimed. He had been looking to depart Philadelphia since June when he opted in his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season. This comes after he and 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey had a fallout.

James Harden might want to leave the Philadelphia 76ers, but it appears he won’t go to extreme lengths in order to get what he wants. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Harden is expected to participate in the 76ers’ training camp ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.

Harden hasn’t been there for the opening of the camp but is on his way to rejoin the team, which is currently practicing at the campus of Colorado State University Tuesday.

When asked about Harden after Tuesday’s practice, the 76ers’ new head coach Nick Nurse didn’t want to go into details.

“I do know that he wasn’t here today,” Nurse said. “If he’s here tomorrow, like we’ve said on everything, we will get ready to make some adjustments on everything.”

After the 76ers didn’t offer him a satisfying contract extension this offseason, James Harden picked up his player option for the 2023-24 season and asked the front office to trade him. While Philly engaged in trade talks with several teams since then, nothing materialized.

Harden made it clear to the 76ers that the Los Angeles Clippers are his preferred destination. The Los Angeles team is also interested in acquiring the former NBA MVP, but their offers so far have been described as “underwhelming.”

Harden played 58 games with Philly last season, averaging 21.0 points and 6.1 rebounds while leading the league with 10.7 assists.

Star guard James Harden reportedly picked up his $35.6 million option for the 2023-24 season with the Philadelphia 76ers. However, Harden didn’t do it to continue playing in Philly.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Harden opted into his 76ers contract with the intention to get traded. His representatives and the 76ers’ front office are now expected to work on a trade that would get the former MVP in his preferred destination and allow Philly to get some assets in return.

Harden took a pay cut last summer in order to allow Philly more flexibility in building a contending team around him and reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid. After the 76ers flamed out in the playoffs again, Harden was expected to opt out of the deal and get a more lucrative contract.

The expectations were that the 76ers would be the team that gives him that kind of deal, but sources close say that the franchise didn’t show any urgency in making that happen. They were reportedly willing to wait it out and see what the market was, which rubbed the 33-year-old the wrong way.

The reason why Harden opted into his contract instead just hitting free agency is that none of his preferred teams has the cap space to sign him outright. He has more options as a trade asset, with teams like Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers being rumored to have interest in him.

Harden joined the 76ers midway through the 2021-22 NBA campaign in a trade that sent Ben Simmons to the Brooklyn Nets. He played 58 games last season, averaging 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists.

The Philadelphia 76ers shocked the Milwaukee Bucks, defeating them 133-130 in a thrilling game that brought an end to the Bucks’ 16-game winning streak.

Philadelphia now moves into third place on the Eastern Conference standings while the Bucks retain the top spot. Despite the loss, Milwaukee continues to hold the best record in the league.

James Harden proved to be the Sixers’ standout player on the night, scoring 38 points and delivering 10 assists to catapult Philadelphia to victory.

“Give ourselves a chance. That was that whole fourth quarter,” Harden stated after the game. “I feel like they had us that entire game, and then, that fourth quarter, we came out with some pop.”

In addition to a fine individual performance, Harden was also praised for his effective partnership with Joel Embiid, who contributed 31 points and 10 assists on the night.

The 76ers outscored the Bucks 48-31 in the fourth quarter; the most points they had tallied in the final quarter of a game since 1972.

Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden is expected to be sidelined for a month after incurring a tendon strain on his right foot, sources revealed on Friday.

Harden suffered the strain during the 76ers’ 121-111 loss to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night and underwent a medical assessment on Thursday when the extent of the injury was determined.

A 10-time NBA All-Star, Harden’s absence will be felt by the 76ers as they go into Friday’s home game against the New York Knicks. Harden has produced a strong performance so far this season, averaging 22 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists in nine games.

Filling the void left behind by Harden is third-year guard Tyrese Maxey, who has emerged as a rising star by racking up a career-high scoring average of 24.2 points per game this season, which includes shooting 51% from the field and 46.8% from three-pointers attempts.

Currently, Philadelphia sits in eighth place on the Eastern Conference standings, with a record of 4-5. Following the Knicks game, the 76ers are set to face the Phoenix Suns, the Atlanta Hawks, the Utah Jazz, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Minnesota Timberwolves while Harden remains sidelined.

Superstar James Harden wants to win the NBA title so bad that he is willing to leave money on the table to get it. Harden confirmed this in a chat with Yahoo Sports, saying that he’s waiting for the Philadelphia 76ers to improve its roster before signing a new deal and that he’ll take “whatever is left over.”

Harden explained that his sacrifice was a result of a conversation with 76ers president of basketball operation Daryl Morey.

” … it was explained how we could get better and what the market value was for certain players,” said Harden. “I told Daryl to improve the roster, sign who we needed to sign, and give me whatever is left over.”

Harden added that winning an NBA title is the only thing that matters to him at this stage of his career.

“This is how bad I want to win. I want to compete for a championship,” he shared.

James Harden arrived in Philly from the Brooklyn Nets in February in a trade that saw All-Star guard Ben Simmons head the other way. The 76ers had big expectations for 2021-22 from that point on, but things didn’t exactly work out the way the organization intended. Harden struggled to shake off his rust while superstar center Joel Embiid dealt with injuries, resulting in a second-round playoff exit.

Harden, who averaged 21.0 points in 21 games with the 76ers last season, is a free agent after declining the $47.3 million option. However, he isn’t taking part in the free agency process and is set on staying in Philadelphia in 2022-23 and beyond.

This year’s NBA Most Valuable Player race is tighter than ever, but the Philadelphia 76ers’ superstar James Harden believes there is one player more deserving of the award than others. According to Harden, this season’s MVP is unquestionably his new teammate Joel Embiid.

During a recent chat with the reporters, Harden said that Embiid deserved the MVP honors with his winning “mindset” and performances on the floor.

“He deserves it, man,” Harden said. “I’ve only been here for a few weeks, but I already see his mindset. He wants to win. Some guys just want numbers, but he has both. He has the mentality of winning, and he scores the ball at a high level. I think he’s prepared himself, especially coming off last year, for this year to be one of his best years.”

Embiid was in the MVP conversation last season as well, but the award went to Denver Nuggets’ big man Nikola Jokic. However, instead of getting discouraged, the 28-year-old managed to add another level to his game.

In 59 games he played in 2021-22, Embiid is averaging league-leading 29.8 points per game to go with 11.3 rebounds and career-high 4.3 assists. He is also showing up on the other side of the ball, being recognized as one of the NBA’s best defenders.

Thanks to Joel Embiid’s performances, the Philadelphia 76ers remain in the chase for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They are third with a 45-27 record but trail only 1.5 games behind the top-seeded Miami Heat.

Not long after the starters were chosen, the reserves for the upcoming NBA All-Star game were officially selected as well.

For the Western Conference, the reserves will be the Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, the Los Angeles Clippers’ Paul George, the New Orleans’ Pelicans Zion Williamson, the Phoenix Suns’ Chris Paul, and the Portland Trailblazers’ Damien Lillard.

It should also be noted that the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis was selected to be a reserve as well, but due to an injury will be substituted by the Suns’ Devin Booker.

Over on the Eastern Conference, here’s how the reserves will look. Brooklyn’s James Harden was an obvious choice, along with the Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons. The Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown also got the nod, with the Chicago Bulls’ Zach Lavine, the Orlando Magic’s Nikola Vucevic, and the New York Knicks’ Julius Randle getting invited as well.

This will be the first All-Star game for some, including the Pelicans’ Zion Williamson and the Knicks’ Julius Randle.

The NBA All-Star game reserves are selected by the head coaches of the NBA teams, so it’s certainly not a popularity contest, rather selections based on merit alone. The game will be played on March 7th.

It’s that time of year again, basketball fans. Time for us to jump on our couches, munch on some hot wings, and enjoy the NBA All-Star game. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and discouragement from a handful of players, it looks like the classic event is going to happen regardless.

The players selected to start at the All-Star are looking pretty darn good this season. Starting for the Western Conference will be the LA Lakers’ LeBron James, the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, the LA Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard, the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, and the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic.

Starting for the Eastern Conference will be the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid, the Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal, and the Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Kevin Durant was the leading vote-getter for the Eastern Conference, while LeBron James received the most votes out West. As a result, the pair will each serve as captains for their respective conferences.

When the NBA announced that the All-Star game was going to take place, James initially called it “a slap in the face”, believing that it was wrong for the event to happen during the pandemic. However, it looks as though the NBA won’t buckle down, and James in turn will be the main attraction.

Superstar point guard James Harden hasn’t wasted any time getting settled with his new team, the Brooklyn Nets. After winning four straight games, he led Brooklyn to yet another victory over the formidable Los Angeles Lakers. The final score was 109-98 in favor of the Nets.

However, Harden didn’t just lead the Nets to victory. He also broke a new franchise record in the process.

With 23 points and 11 assists on the night, Harden was able to snag his 11th straight double-double, breaking the original Brooklyn Nets’ franchise record for consecutive double-doubles. This feat was also Harden’s 19th overall points-assists double-double of the season, which is the most in the entire league.

Harden has proven that he’s more than just a scorer, helping four other Nets players score in double-digits. Even though he’s only just joined the team, there is obviously some real chemistry at play.

Laker superstar LeBron James shined with 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, but couldn’t scrape away with a victory. The other Laker All-Star, Anthony Davis, sat out due to injury. However, to be fair, Nets superstar Kevin Durant also sat out.

Nevertheless, this highly-anticipated battle between these two heavyweights was a great one, and people will certainly be giving the Nets some serious respect after this game.
