The Detroit Lions are no longer the only winless team in the NFL this season. Thanks to a late touchdown led by quarterback Jared Goff, the Lions managed to overcome the NFC North rivals Minnesota Vikings and claim an unlikely 29-27 victory.

The Lions were heavy underdogs ahead of the clash, especially considering Minnesota’s recent stretch of good performances that included a win over the Green Bay Packers. And it appeared that the prediction was correct early on, as the Vikings held Detroit scoreless in the first quarter while putting six points on the board.

However, the Lions dialed it up in the second quarter and scored 20 unanswered points to close out the first half.

Detroit’s offense couldn’t keep up with the same production level in the third, allowing the Vikings to cut down into their lead. The Vikings continued their comeback in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on Detroit’s turnover that included an interception and a fumble by Goff.

It appeared that Minnesota got the job done as QB Kirk Cousins found standout wideout Justin Jefferson in the endzone to give his team a 27-23 lead with less than two minutes remaining on the clock.

Still, the Lions were unwilling to let another close game slip through their hands. With 1:50 left to work with, Goff led his offense 75 yards down the field and threw a perfect TD pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown on 4th&2 to launch a massive celebration at the Ford Field.

The Lions improved to a 1-10-1 record with the win. While it doesn’t do much for them in the 2021 NFL season, the fact that they can finally leave the field with their heads held up high should do wonders for the team in the long run.

The Vikings, on the other hand, will be gutted not to be able to get the job done against the worst team in the league. They are still second in the division with a 5-7 record, but the road to playoffs has become much harder.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay certainly doesn’t regret upgrading from Jared Goff to Matthew Stafford at the quarterback position ahead of the 2021 NFL season. Since trading Goff to the Detroit Lions in exchange for Stafford, the Rams have been one of the best teams in football and look like a legit Super Bowl contender. However, McVay still would have wished he had handled the QB swap a bit differently on Goff’s end.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, McVay said he feels he could have done better to communicate the trade to Goff.

“Yes, I wish there was better, clearer communication,” McVay said via ESPN. “To say that it was perfectly handled on my end, I wouldn’t be totally accurate in that. I’ll never claim to be perfect, but I will try to learn from some things that I can do better, and I think that was one of them without a doubt.”

The Rams traded Goff to the Lions just two seasons after handing him a four-year extension worth $134 million. The 27-year-old signal-caller later said that he didn’t expect to be moved and revealed that the team didn’t talk with him during the offseason until they needed to tell him he was being traded.

Goff entered the league as the Rams’ first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was named the team’s starting quarterback midway through his rookie year and went on to play 69 games for the franchise. He helped the Rams make the Super Bowl in 2018 and contributed to two more postseason trips.

“I think the L.A. fans and I think the Rams fans know what a great job he had done and how much, I think how much he meant to the Rams organization both as a football player and also the community,” McVay added.

After defeating the Los Angeles Rams 32-18, the Green Bay Packers are headed to the NFC Conference Championship game for the second straight year.

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur makes history by being the first coach to take his team to the conference championship game in each of his first two seasons with the team.

But not a lot of coaches have had someone like quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is the clear favorite to win the MVP award this year. Rodgers continued to shine in the playoffs, picking apart the vaunted Rams defense to the tune of 296 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

The Green Bay offensive line performed brilliantly as well, not allowing the Rams to sack Rodgers even once. However, the fact that Los Angeles standout defender Aaron Donald was playing injured definitely factored into the Rams’ lack of pass rush.

Los Angeles quarterback Jared Goff, who was playing through a serious thumb injury, battled valiantly and kept the Rams in the game for as long as he could.

But the Packers’ offensive attack was too much to overcome in the end. Complimenting Rodgers all day was a fantastic rushing attack that tallied 188 yards on the ground.

Green Bay will be hosting the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week to battle it out for the right to represent the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl.

Thanks to the Los Angeles Rams’ impeccable defense, no one can really count them out of the running for a title. Even though they stumbled into the playoffs without the greatest record, they were still able to oust the higher-ranked Seattle Seahawks and prove that they belonged.

Rams running back Cam Akers especially shined in the 30-20 victory, rushing for 131 yards to go with a touchdown as well. But as we just mentioned, the main punch that the Rams brought was on defense.

Due to LA’s stifling defensive line, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wasn’t looking like his usual self. All-Pro tackle Aaron Donald had two sacks, Leonard Floyd chipped in with another two, and the whole team had five in total. Even when they weren’t getting sacks, they put intense pressure on Wilson and didn’t let him get comfortable.

But one of the biggest highlights of the Rams’ defense on Saturday’s game took place when Darious Williams intercepted a pass by Wilson and then ran 42 yards for a touchdown. This ended up being the spark that the Rams never looked back from.

Rams quarterback Jared Goff solidified the victory by finding Robert Woods in the endzone with nearly five minutes left in regulation.

It appears that recent criticism from LA Rams head coach Sean McVay didn’t rub the team’s quarterback Jared Goff the wrong way. Instead, the 26-year-old signal-caller acknowledged that McVay was right to call him out.

McVay criticized Goff for not taking care of the football after a surprising 20-23 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week. In that game, Goff threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.

“If he was lying I’d feel differently about it—he’s absolutely right,” Goff told reporters on Wednesday. “I’m a big boy, I can handle it.” He later continued: “I need to be better than that, I need to take care of the football, and he’s absolutely right, and I will.”

Goff’s mistakes came at the worst possible moment, as the loss against the 49ers complicates the Rams’ road to the playoffs in a highly competitive NFC West. With a 7-4 record, the Rams are second in the division behind the Seattle Seahawks (8-3). The Arizona Cardinals are also in the hunt for the postseason spot at 6-5.

Jared Goff has been having an inconsistent campaign in 2020, having games in which he looks like a superstar but also providing moments in which he mightily struggles. Goff is completing 67.2 percent of his passes for the season and has thrown for 3,021 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also fumbled the ball seven times. He’ll look to finish the season strong as the Rams push for a playoff bid.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady threw two costly interceptions in the second half of the team’s 27-24 Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

On the other side, the Rams offense was firing on all cylinders, with Rams quarterback Jared Goff finishing the night with 376 passing yards and three touchdowns, as well as two interceptions. Receivers Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp were Goff’s favorite targets, with Woods catching 12 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown and Kupp grabbing 11 passes for 145 yards.

And while the Bucs offense was able to score and move the ball, the Rams defense did a good job of making sure that they didn’t give up any big plays to Brady and his usually high-powered offense. None of Brady’s star receivers, Mike Evans, Chris Goodwin, or Antonio Brown, had a pass catch of more than 10 yards, and the running game for Tampa Bay was almost nonexistent.

The Buccaneers fell to 7-4 but will have to face the best team in the NFL next week, the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Rams sit atop the NFC West with a 7-3 record and will face divisional rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, at home next week.

The Los Angeles Rams are sure they have their quarterback of the future in Jared Goff and have decided to show that on Wednesday. Rams announced that they have signed Goff to a four-year extension, which keeps the Pro Bowler under contract through 2024.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Goff’s extension is worth $134 million, and comes with NFL-record guaranteed $110 million. The 24-year-old still has two years on his rookie deal under which he is set to earn $4.3 million in 2019 and $22.8 million in 2020. This brings the overall value of his contract to $161 million.

Although Jared Goff didn’t push for an extension this offseason, it became evident that he would get one when Philadelphia Eagles extended QB Carson Wentz. Goff was drafted No.1 overall in 2016 and Wentz was selected No.2 in the same draft. This is why it also makes sense that Goff’s deal is more valuable than Wentz’s, who got $128 million and $107.9 million guaranteed back in June.

After a struggling rookie season under Jeff Fisher, Goff managed to establish himself as one of the better QBs in the league under new Rams’ coach Sean McWay. In the previous two years, he made consecutive Pro Bowl appearances while also leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2018.

Over the course of his three years in the league, Goff completed 62.1 percent of his passes while throwing for 9,581 yards and 65 touchdowns. He added 931 passing yards and two touchdowns in the postseason.

Over the course of his three years in the league, Goff completed 62.1 percent of his passes while throwing for 9,581 yards and 65 touchdowns. He added 931 passing yards and two touchdowns in the postseason.
