The post Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Needed to Get 5 Stitches After Cutting Hand While Watering Flowers appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Earlier this week, Brown was watering flowers at his home when he accidentally knocked down a glass vase. While picking up the shards, the 26-year-old suffered a cut on his shooting hand and ended up needing to get five stitches.
The accident will now cost Brown the remainder of the regular season. However, he is expected to be available to start the playoffs and won’t have any lingering issues by then, according to Boston’s head coach Joe Mazzulla.
The Celtics would probably sit Brown for the last game of the regular season either way. They are locked as the number two seed in the Eastern Conference, and the result of their matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday will have no significance for the team in terms of standings.
Jaylen Brown played 67 games in 2022-23 and delivered his best statistical season. His minutes per game (35.9), points (26.6), field goal percentage (49.1), and rebounds (6.9) are all career-high. Brown also earned an All-Star nod in 2023, his second since he entered the NBA as the third overall pick in 2016.

The Knicks slowly chipped Boston’s lead in the third quarter and emerged at the top of 86-82 score to start the final period. It appeared that New York will wrap up the game in a comfortable fashion from that point onward, but Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart hit a three-pointer each as the clock was winding down to make it 116-116.
The first overtime saw teams exchanging leads before becoming sloppy and failing to get their offense going. The score was locked at 128-128 at 2:42, and neither team managed to make a basket until the clock reached zero.
The Knicks were hungrier for the win in the second overtime and managed to get it done mostly thanks to some big defensive stops and crucial baskets from Evan Fournier and Derrick Rose in the last minute.
Fournier, who spent the second part of the last season with the Celtics, ended the game with 32 points and made six out of 13 three-point attempts. Julius Randle added a near triple-double with 35 points, eight boards, and nine assists. Kemba Walker, another former Celtic, had a quiet night that saw him contribute 10 points.
The Celtics, on the other hand, had a big performance from Jaylen Brown. In 46 minutes on the floor, Brown scored 46 points and added nine rebounds and six assists. Jayson Tatum had 20 points despite a poor shooting night that saw him make only seven baskets out of 30 shots.

]]>For the Western Conference, the reserves will be the Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, the Los Angeles Clippers’ Paul George, the New Orleans’ Pelicans Zion Williamson, the Phoenix Suns’ Chris Paul, and the Portland Trailblazers’ Damien Lillard.
It should also be noted that the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis was selected to be a reserve as well, but due to an injury will be substituted by the Suns’ Devin Booker.
Over on the Eastern Conference, here’s how the reserves will look. Brooklyn’s James Harden was an obvious choice, along with the Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons. The Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown also got the nod, with the Chicago Bulls’ Zach Lavine, the Orlando Magic’s Nikola Vucevic, and the New York Knicks’ Julius Randle getting invited as well.
This will be the first All-Star game for some, including the Pelicans’ Zion Williamson and the Knicks’ Julius Randle.
The NBA All-Star game reserves are selected by the head coaches of the NBA teams, so it’s certainly not a popularity contest, rather selections based on merit alone. The game will be played on March 7th.

]]>The post Jaylen Brown Rejects 4-Year, $80 Million Extension From Celtics appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Celtics rarely offer rookie extensions ahead of time, with the most recent example being Rajon Rondo in 2009. But considering Brown’s talent and upside, Boston decided to change their policy and give the 22-year-old an offer. But it turned out to be not good.
Haynes reports that Celtics offered Jaylen Brown $80 million over four years, but the player rejected the extension, thinking he can get a substantially better offer next year. This might prove to be a good decision, especially since the 2020 free-agent class is not that strong. It’s important to note that Celtics can match any contract offer Brown receives from other NBA teams.
In order to fetch a max-contract offer next summer, Brown will have to take another step in his development. Since entering the league in 2016 as a third overall pick, he showed flashes of great talent, but never managed to break through as a potential star in the league. Over the course of these past three seasons, he played a total of 222 games (115 as a starter) and averaged 11.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
