Blomberg’s departure doesn’t come as a surprise, considering he only played three games for the team in 2019. His last appearance came in early June, after which he fell out of the rotation completely.

Johan Blomberg signed a deal with Rapids in 2018, coming to the United States after his contract with AIK expired. He saw plenty of action in his first year, being featured in 24 games in MLS. However, following Anthony Hudson’s departure as the team’s head coach, Blomberg lost his place in the team and never managed to reclaim it.

Blomberg spent almost his entire professional career in native Sweden, where he played Lunds BK, Ängelholms FF, Halmstads BK, and AIK.
