Veteran third baseman Josh Donaldson, who was arguably the biggest name among remaining free agents, is off the market. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Donaldson agreed to a deal with Minnesota Twins.

Donaldson, who spent 2019 with Atlanta Braves, reportedly inked a four-year contract that will earn him $84 million. The deal includes a $16 million option alongside a $8 million buyout, which brings the total guaranteed money to $92 million.

In recent days, it was reported that Donaldson received offers in the range of $100 million from several teams, including Braves, Twins, and Washington Nationals. According to MLB Network’s Mark Bowman, Atlanta was willing to go up to $110 million, but it seems like money wasn’t the determining factor for the 34-year-old.

After struggling with injuries in recent years, Josh Donaldson managed to resurrect his career with Atlanta Braves last season. He played 155 games, most since 2016, and finished the year batting .259 with 37 home runs and 94 RBIs. This kind of performance brought him NL Comeback Player of the Year award.

Prior to joining Braves, Donaldson played with Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cleveland Indians. He has three All-Star appearances and has won the AL MVP award in 2015. His MLB career stats include .273 batting average, 219 homers, and 645 RBIs.
