Former USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has finished his stint with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin after just 11 weeks. Klinsmann announced that he is stepping down as Hertha’s manager on Tuesday via a Facebook post.

Klinsmann first joined the club as a member of the supervisory board, before being named interim manager after Ante Covic got fired. The 55-year-old manager helmed Hertha, which now sits at 14th spot in Bundesliga, in 10 league games, posting 3-3-4 record.

Klinsmann, however, won’t leave the club entirely, as he will revert to his old position in Hertha’s owning structure.

News about his departure was later confirmed by the German side on their social media.

“We were on a very good path in the relatively short time, and thanks to the support of many people, we are now six points away from the relegation places despite mostly difficult games,” said Klinsmann in a statement. “I am firmly convinced that Hertha will achieve the goal – remaining in the league.”

Jurgen Klinsmann explained that the lack of trust from the front office influenced his decision. “As head coach, however, I also need the trust of the people involved with this task, which has not yet been completed,” he added.

Klinsmann previously managed Germany’s national side, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, and the United States national side.

It looks like former USMNT manager Jurgen Klinsmann isn’t taking over Ecuador after all. Ecuador Football Federation (FEF) director Carlos Galarza spoke with reporters on Thursday and denied news that Klinsmann would be the new coach for the country’s national team.

Multiple reports surfaced on Wednesday that Klinsmann agreed to take over Ecuador national team and that his hiring is expected to be announced in the next several days. The 55-year-old German would take over from Hernan Dario Gomez, who was fired in July after a heavy 6-1 defeat against Argentina.

Still, Galarza insists that this news is pure speculation.

“There is nothing concrete, just speculation,” – Galarza told reporters but confirmed that they already had talks with “one coach in particular.”

Besides Klinsmann, several other high-profile names were considered for the job, including Fernando Hierro, Santiago Solari, and Nestor Pekerman.

Jurgen Klinsmann is without a job since being fired as the United States men’s national soccer team’s head coach in November 2016. Klinsmann spent five years with USMNT, compiling 55-16-27 record and leading the nation to the CONCACAF Gold Cup championship in 2013 and 15th place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He previously coached Germany and Bayern Munich.
