Kevin Durant slipped and sprained his ankle during the pregame warmups before the Phoenix Suns’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.

About an hour before tipoff, the new Suns player was performing an individual drill when he lost his balance while jumping to take a shot. Although he managed to get back up and continue training, Durant’s ankle began to show swelling once he returned to the locker room, leading to the Suns ruling him out for the game.

“I feel bad for him because he feels bad,” Suns coach Monty Williams said. “I saw his face and — I’ve been around him so many times — I know what he’s feeling and I don’t want him feeling that way at all.”

Despite the disappointment of Durant being unable to make his home debut for the team, the Suns were able to progress without him, pulling off a 132-101 win. Devin Booker turned up as the Suns’ key player on the night, scoring 44 points on 17-of-23 shooting in just 28 minutes.

Booker finds himself in strong form, being named the Western Conference Player of the Week.

Kevin Durant made his debut for the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, having been previously unable to do so due to a right MCl sprain that kept him out of action since January 8.

Durant scored 23 points in 27 minutes as the Suns emerged 105-91 winners against the Charlotte Hornets, thereby snapping the Hornets’ five-game winning streak in the process.

“I feel like I fit in pretty well,” Durant commented after his debut. “Everybody out there was trying to make me as comfortable as possible,” Durant said. “I just got to keep grinding, man, and this jersey on me will look normal as games go on.”

One of the main talking points of the game was Durant’s partnership with the in-form Devin Booker. With Durant’s contributions, Booker scored 37 points while adding six rebounds and seven assists.

The only area of concern that emerged from Wednesday’s victory was the Suns’ apparent reliance on a few key players. Apart from Durant and Booker, the only other player who was able to enter double digits on the scoreboard was Deandre Ayton, who scored 16 points.

The Phoenix Suns’ newly-acquired superstar Kevin Durant is expected to make a return to action next week. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Durant is targeting March 1st game against the Charlotte Hornets for his official Suns’ debut.

The Suns acquired Durant ahead of the NBA trade deadline in a blockbuster deal with the Brooklyn Nets that saw them give up talents Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson as well as four unprotected future first-round picks, among other assets. However, the 34-year-old player still hasn’t suited up for his new franchise due to an MCL sprain that kept him out since early January.

Before going down with the injury, Durant played at a high level and was considered an early MVP candidate. He was averaging 29.7 points per game on a career-high 55.9 percent shooting from the floor while also adding 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

Durant’s impending return is great news for the Suns as they are trying to get a better seeding in a crowded Western Conference. Phoenix is currently fifth with a 32-28 record after winning seven out of their last ten games. However, they are only three games in front of the Portland Trail Blazers, who are 12th and out of the play-in.

The Suns are getting healthy at the right time, considering their injury struggles earlier in the season. All-Stars Devin Booker and Chris Paul both missed extended time but are healthy again and playing in a good form.

The Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant is expected to be sidelined for a month with an isolated MCL sprain of his right knee, league sources confirmed. The Nets announced Durant’s injury on Monday, adding that the forward’s injury situation would be reevaluated in two weeks.

Durant picked up his injury during the third quarter of the Nets’ 102-101 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday night when Heat player Jimmy Butler fell back onto Durant’s knee after his shot was blocked by Ben Simmons. While Durant got up after a few seconds and appeared to attempt to play on, the Nets called a time-out 30 seconds later, during which Durant was taken out of the game.

In January 2021, Durant injured the MCL in his left knee, leading to him missing six weeks of action. He also missed over a month in 2017 due to a sprained MCL and a tibial bone bruise.

Durant will leave a big gap in the Nets’ roster during his absence, having averaged 30 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists this season, thereby being included in the conversation for this season’s MVP.

The Brooklyn Nets are nowhere near where they imagined they would be at the start of the 2021-22 NBA season. Instead of fighting for the top of the Eastern Conference, the Nets are currently holding onto the 10th spot and place in the Play-In tournament.

Speaking about his team’s struggles on Monday, superstar Kevin Durant said he believes the Nets’ shortcomings this season result from the knee injury he has been dealing with.

“To be honest, I feel like our season was derailed by my injury,” Durant said. “So I’m not looking at it like we’re just not a good basketball team.”

Durant was an early MVP candidate at the start of the season but suffered a sprained MCL in mid-January. The injury sidelined him for almost two months, causing the Nets to slip in the standings.

The 33-year-old player added that things would be different if he and his All-Star teammate Kyrie Irving were able to play. Irving was limited to away games for the better part of the year due to New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

It’s like there wasn’t a lot of continuity with me and Kyrie [Irving] out of the lineup, that’s just what it is,” he explained. “When we’re all on the floor together I like what we got.”

When healthy, Kevin Durant was one of the best basketball players on the planet. He averaged 30.1 points per game on 52.4 percent shooting while also adding 7.3 rebounds and career-high 6.1 assists per game.

During a game against the Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets’ superstar forward Kevin Durant was sidelined with a left thigh injury in the first quarter.

He was forced to leave the game after accidentally slamming his left thigh into the Heat’s Trevor Ariza while driving to the basket. He was later evaluated on the sideline by a team trainer, who ruled that he should be sent to the locker room and not return to the game.

So how serious is this injury exactly? According to Brooklyn head coach Steve Nash, it’s still a bit unclear: “He’s sore, but we don’t know how severe. We’ll see tomorrow how he wakes up and go from there. But right now nothing’s been determined.”

With Brooklyn lacking Durant’s firepower, they ended up losing a 109-107 nailbiter to the defending Eastern Conference Champions. But scarier than the loss is the question of when KD may return to the floor.

After all, this was only Durant’s fifth game back after returning from a completely different injury. He had missed games from a hamstring injury in March, and an additional three games in January because of potential COVID-19 exposure.

In other words, Durant has missed a lot of this season regardless, so Brooklyn fans were obviously excited to see him back in action. Unfortunately, now they’ll have to wonder yet again when he’ll return.

The Brooklyn Nets have been collecting superstars left and right, and yet their biggest one is still not playing. Kevin Durant, former MVP and two-time Finals MVP, will be out of game action “indefinitely”, according to coach Steve Nash.

Durant has been dealing with a hamstring injury for quite some time now, but it was unclear how long he would be out for. Unfortunately, people will have to wait even longer to receive a clearer answer.

In order for the team to know more, they’ll have to await further tests that the doctors will conduct upon the superstar forward.

According to Nash, “We were expecting the potential for this to be a month or whatever it may be. So who knows? Who knows what the scan says? Who knows where this takes us and how soon he’s back?”

The good news is, there really is no rush for Durant to get on the court before he needs to. As we already mentioned, the Nets have recently come into a stroke of good fortune, landing a handful of big names.

In addition to Durant, Brooklyn has Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Blake Griffin all part of their roster. Something tells us that with Durant out, these three stars will manage to keep Brooklyn’s win percentage afloat in the meantime.

Brooklyn Nets’ fans didn’t lose hope that their superstar Kevin Durant might recover in time to play this season, but this still remains an unlikely scenario. According to the player’s agent Rich Kleiman, it is “unrealistic” to expect that Durant returns during 2019/20.

Durant, who signed with the Nets last summer, was previously scheduled to miss the entire season due to Achilles tendon injury he suffered during the 2019 NBA Finals. However, due to the NBA’s decision to suspend the competition due to coronavirus pandemic, many believed that Durant could end up playing if season resumes later in the summer.

Asked about his opinion on the matter during an appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Kleiman expressed doubt that Durant ends up playing so soon.

“From my standpoint, no,” said Kleiman. “I think it’s unrealistic. That’s just my view on it. We haven’t gotten deep into the conversation about it because of how unrealistic it all seems to me. I figure that, if something changed, he would tell me.”

Kevin Durant didn’t comment on his possible return in the past, but Brooklyn Nets’ general manager Sean Marks recently didn’t want to rule out that possibility. However, such a move probably wouldn’t be wise.

Once the NBA season returns, the schedule will be more pack and the games will be played with more intensity, which would increase the risk of injuries. Also, Nets aren’t particularly good at the moment and have lost their coach midway through the season, which decreases their chances of being competitive. So, even if Durant is ready to play, it would be better to keep him on the sidelines and have him ready for the 2020/21.

Kevin Durant has declined his player option for the 2019/20 NBA season, which was worth $31.5 million, on his contract with Golden State Warriors and will officially become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

According to ESPN’s NBA Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, Durant’s business manager Rich Kleiman recently informed Golden State’s general manager, Bob Myers about the player’s decision. Wojnarowski adds that Kleiman and Durant are currently in New York City, where they are planning their approach to the free agency.

Following Durant’s ACL injury in NBA Finals, which will sideline him for the entire next season, many people thought that the 30-year-old All-Star might consider the possibility of accepting his player option. This would allow him to recover in familiar surroundings and then enter the free agency in the summer of 2020 when he is expected to recover fully. It seems, however, that Durant decided to stick with the plan he plotted before the injury and test the market.

Besides the Warriors, who are expected to offer Kevin Durant a five-year, $221 million max-contract, there are several other teams hoping to lure him despite the injury.  It is believed that Durant will consider three of them: New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers. Unlike Golden State, these other teams can offer him only a four-year, $164 million deal.

Durant averaged 26.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game in the past regular season.

Golden State Warriors managed to keep their dreams of a three-peat alive with a 106-105 win over the Toronto Raptors in NBA Finals’ Game 5. Still, this precious victory came with a huge price as Warriors’ star Kevin Durant tore his right Achilles tendon.

Durant, who was out for the last month with a calf strain, finally returned to court on Tuesday night in order to help his team avoid elimination. The 30-year-old All-Star opened the game in a great fashion, as he scored 11 points in just 12 minutes.

But 2 minutes and 9 seconds in the second quarter, Durant attempted to drive against Toronto’s Serge Ibaka before stumbling and losing the ball. He went down on the floor holding his right calf before being helped off the court.

Although Kevin Durant is scheduled to undergo an MRI in order to determine the severity of the injury, Warriors’ general manager Bob Myers already confirmed that they fear the worst.

“It’s an Achilles injury,” – said Myers after the game. “I don’t know the extent of it. He’ll have an MRI tomorrow. Prior to coming back he went through four weeks with a medical team, and it was thorough, and it was experts and multiple MRIs and multiple doctors, and we felt good about the process.”

If Durant really tore his Achilles, then he will most likely miss the entire 2019/20 NBA season. This fact will influence not only his future but also the entire league. Instead of hitting the free market this summer, Durant now might opt into his contract option with Golden State and become a free agent next year.

Durant averaged 26.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game this regular season.
