Veteran defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk played one season with Tampa Bay Lightning, won a Stanley Cup, and now he’s moving on. According to multiple reports, Shattenkirk agreed to a deal with Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

Reportedly, Shattenkirk inked a three-year contract that will see him earn $3.9 million on average and $11.7 million in total.

After an injury-riddled spell with New York Rangers, Shattenkirk signed with Tampa Bay ahead of the 2019/20 season on a “prove-it” one-year, $1.75 million deal. The 31-year-old ended up playing 70 games in the regular season, contributing with eight goals and 26 assists. He was productive in the postseason as well, scoring three times and adding 10 assists.

After his best season in years, it was obvious for some time that Kevin Shattenkirk went out of Lightning’s price range and that he will suit up for a different franchise. He had interest from multiple teams around the league, but Anaheim ended up making the best offer.

Shattenkirk also played with Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, and Washington Capitals. He has 679 career games in NHL, having contributed 383 points (83 goals and 300 assists).

It didn’t take long for defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to find a new team following a contract buyout he agreed with New York Rangers. After considering several offers, Shattenkirk ended up accepting the one from Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tampa Bay’s vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced on Monday that Shattenkirk inked a one year deal, worth $1.75 million with the organization.

After hitting the free-agent market in summer of 2017 as an intriguing target for many NHL teams, Kevin Shattenkirk decided to sign a four-year, $26 million contract with the Rangers. Shattenkirk’s  first year in New York, however, was plagued by injuries and he ended up playing only 46 games in 2017/19.

Although his production improved in the following year, Rangers already decided they are going down the rebuilding path, and there was no place for the 30-year-old on the team anymore. He left the team after playing 119 games and contributing seven goals and 44 assists in two seasons.

Shattenkirk, who was 14th overall pick by Colorado Avalanche in 2007, also spent time with St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals. His NHL career stats include 609 games, 75 goals, and 274 assists.
