]]>Myers expressed enthusiasm about Thompson’s return over the weekend during a chat with reporters on Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers game.
“I think there’s a chance,” said Myers when asked if Thompson might play this season. “We’re going to have an update probably around All-Star break. But like Steph, if they’re healthy and they’re cleared, they’ll play. But if they’re not, obviously we’re not going to play them.”
The Warriors’ are also without two-times MVP guard Stephen Curry, who had to undergo surgery to repair hand fracture in early November. Curry was initially projected to be out for three months, but he is still to return to action.
“They both love basketball. Klay has had the hardest time being away from it. It’s like he’s thirsty and can’t drink water,” Myers added. “And Steph as well. But Steph is closer than Klay. You can ask him yourself. But it feels like Klay hasn’t played in a long, long time. So it’ll be exciting when we got all those guys back.”
Klay Thompson tore his ACL in the third quarter of deciding Game 6 in NBA Finals against Toronto Raptors. Warriors ended up losing that game and failing to defend their NBA championship title from the previous season.
Thompson finished the 2018/19 regular season averaging 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
