Luka Modric has been linked with a move from Real Madrid for some time now, but it appears that the Croatian midfielder isn’t keen on leaving Spain. In a recent interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Modric said that he would prefer to stay with Real for a couple of more years and end his career there.

Modric has been an integral part of Real’s success for the better part of the decade, but it appeared that the club was ready to move on from him in an attempt to rejuvenate their midfield. The 34-year-old midfielder was linked with moves to several high-profile clubs in the past 12 months, with Seria A giant Inter being the most frequently mentioned destination.

However, if it’s up to him, the 2018’s Ballon d’Or winner would like to stay still.

“I’m sure I can play at a high level for two more years, then we’ll see. I would like to end my career at Real, but it will also depend on the club,” said Modric.

Luka Modric hasn’t been prolific this season as we got used from him, but he still played a big part in keeping Real Madrid in La Liga title race. He played 23 games in the league, scoring three goals and dishing five assists so far.

Modric arrived in Madrid back in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur and has played 334 games in all competitions with the Spanish club. During that time, he helped Real win four UEFA Champions League trophies and one La Liga title, among other accomplishments.
