]]>Last season, Miller batted .243 with six home runs and 51 RBIs in 130 games. The 26-year-old player played in his primary position of first base while also filling in at second and third base on occasion.
“Owen is someone we are happy to add to our infield mix,” Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said as he welcomed the 26-year-old to Milwaukee.
“He brings a combination of athleticism and versatility that helps enhance our depth across the diamond. And bringing home a hometown product is always a nice bonus.”
Following the exit of utilityman Jace Peterson, the Brewers were in need of a versatile replacement who is capable of filling in multiple infield positions. Peterson agreed to a $9.5 million, two-year deal with the Oakland Athletics earlier this week.
Miller’s trade to the Brewers is largely viewed as a homecoming for the player, who was born in the suburb of Mequon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“At this point we thought that the positional versatility and the infield experience that Miller brings would be helpful,” – said Brewers general manager David Stearns of team’s newest acquisition. “He will head to Triple-A, and when we have a need, I’m sure he will be ready to contribute.”
Tampa Bay Rays made Brad Miller designated for assignment on Thursday, although the 28-year-old had a batting average of .256 alongside 5 home runs and 21 RBI’s in 48 games played. Rays decided to part ways with the player in order to open a roster spot for the first baseman Jake Bauers, who previously spent some time with team’s Triple-A affiliate, Durham Bulls.
Ji-Man Choi, who joined the Brewers at the beginning of the year after previously playing for New York Yankees, has seen action sporadically in the 2018 season. He played in 12 games this season, having .233 batting average with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.
