]]>ESPN’s David Kaplan recently reported that the people close to Trubisky told him that the 26-year-old signal-caller has “zero interest” in being in Chicago next season. Kaplan added that his sources within the organization also feel the same way about the North Carolina product.
Trubisky will hit the free-agent market this offseason after the Bears decided not to pick up his fifth-year option. It is unclear whether he will attract much interest there, but there most likely should be a team willing to take a gamble.
Since being selected with the No. 2 pick in 2017, Mitchell Trubisky had seen plenty of highs and lows as a member of the Chicago Bears. He led the team to the NFC North title in his sophomore year but followed that up with an 8-8 campaign in 2019 that saw the Bears miss the playoffs.
Trubisky also had a challenging 2020, being benched after three games only to retake his place under center in Week 12 and push Chicago to the postseason. He was 6-3 as a starter and finished the regular season with 2,055 yards, 16 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
The Chicago Bears, on the other hand, have already been working on getting a new quarterback. After failing to acquire Matthew Stafford, the team is now reportedly pursuing the Philadelphia Eagles’ Carson Wentz as their primary target.
