]]>Wright will leave Villanova Wildcats in good hands. The Fordham Rams’ head coach Kyle Neptune is believed to be the strongest favorite to take over the program. Neptune previously spent 10 years with the Wildcats, working as a video coordinator and assistant under Wright.
Jay Wright was named Villanova’s head coach in 2001. He has since re-established the university as a dominant force in college basketball, leading the Wildcats to two national championships and four Final Four appearances. Wright compiled 520–197 record during his time there, including 244–123 in Big East Conference.
Prior to joining Villanova, Wright spent seven seasons as a head coach with Hofstra University while also working as an assistant with Drexel and UNLV, among other programs. He also served on Gregg Popovich’s staff at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where Team USA won the gold medal.
For his contributions to the game of basketball and sports success, Wright was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.

]]>The post QB Jack Coan Transfers from Wisconsin to Notre Dame appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Coan, who entered the NCAA’s transfer portal in December with one season of eligibility, confirmed the news on social media.
Coan started 18 games for Wisconsin in 2018 and 2019, leading the Badgers to a 12-6 record. He threw for 3,242 yards, 23 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in those two seasons. The 21-year-old QB was especially successful in 2019, completing 69.6 percent of his passes while leading the program to the Big Ten West Division title.
Coan won’t be guaranteed a starting job at Notre Dame, but there is a good chance he’ll end up getting it regardless. The Fighting Irish will most likely lose current starter Ian Book to the NFL next year while backups Drew Pyne and Brendon Clark lack experience.
Wisconsin, on the other hand, will most likely move on with Graham Mertz, who stepped in for Coan in 2020. Mertz started six games last year, recording three wins and three losses while throwing for 1,108 yards, eight TDs, and five interceptions.

]]>The Tigers, who began their season with a surprising loss at the hands of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, rebounded last week with a 41-7 win against Vanderbilt.
Their worst flaws were once again exposed on Saturday, however, losing to their previously-winless SEC West opponents in a game that they were favored heavily in.
The Tigers allowed a total of 586 yards to Missouri, making it impossible for their offense to propel them to victory despite quarterback Myles Brennan’s huge day, throwing for 430 yards and 4 touchdowns. LSU’s defense has taken a huge step back this season, shocking many who expected them to keep up their strong form after their incredible 2019 campaign.
The loss meant that LSU dropped from 17th to unranked in the AP Poll, the first time that they haven’t been voted as one of the top 25 teams in college football since November 5th, 2017, ending a streak of 42 weeks being ranked.
The 1-2 Tigers will look to get back on the right track at Florida next weekend.
