Striker Odion Ighalo’s time with Manchester United is coming to an end soon, and the 31-year-old player is already weighing his options for the future. While staying in the Premier League would be his preferred outcome, Ighalo recently told ESPN that a move to the United States is also in play.

Ighalo is set to end his lone stint with Man Utd on January 31st and return to China’s Shanghai Shenhua. If neither club is ready to have him after that he is looking to the MLS to give him an opportunity.

“At the end of the month, we have to decide what is best and we’ll take it,” said Ighalo. “If it’s possible I’d like to play in MLS but I have to wait to see if it’s possible.”

Odion Ighalo was a surprising pickup for Manchester United last season, arriving as a replacement for injured Marcus Rashford. Still, Ighalo managed to put together some good performances and score five goals in 19 games.

This season, however, playing time is rare for him as the club got a more proven option upfront in Edinson Cavani. Ighalo only made four appearances in 2020-21 in all competitions while playing just nine minutes of Premier League soccer.

Ighalo previously suited up for Lyn, Udinese, and Watford, among other clubs. He also represented Nigeria on the international level 35 times and has 16 goals with the national team.
