]]>Peterson recently told Washington Post that McCoy has the edge when it comes to claiming the top spot on the Redskins’ QB depth chart.
“I feel like Colt, obviously, has the edge because he has the knowledge and ability as well,” – said Peterson. “He’s been shown to have a really strong arm and been consistent as well.”
Out of the three Redskins’ QBs, Colt McCoy is the most familiar with the team’s offense. He joined the Redskins back in 2015 and played five regular-season games with the organization so far. This is why it wouldn’t be surprising if Peterson ends up being right and McCoy wins the QB race.
Haskins is viewed by many as the Redskins’ franchise quarterback of the feature, but his inexperience works against him in the short term. He will likely sit out this year and learn behind the veterans.
Keenum, on the other hand, was a starter for the previous two seasons with Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos. It’s only logical that he wishes to continue this stretch and give McCoy a good run for his money.
Unlike some other QB competitions we saw in the past, Washington’s shouldn’t last for long. The team’s head coach Jay Gruden recently spoke with reporters on this topic and said that he would want to clear any doubts about the starting QB before Redskins’ third preseason game.
