]]>As part of the trade, Impact sent Argentinian defender Victor Cabrera and $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) to Houston. Dynamo will also be entitled to a portion of profit if Montreal sells Quioto in the future.
The trade has been officially confirmed on Impact’s social media.
“We are pleased to acquire this versatile player, who can play in every attacking position and who has proven in the past that he can be successful in this league,” said Montreal’s sporting director Olivier Renard. “We want to thank Victor for his five years of service with the club. We can only wish him the best for his next chapter.”
With Romell Quioto, Impact finally received a reliable option and a difference-maker at the wing position. Since arriving at the MLS in 2017, Quioto, who is Honduran international, played 76 games and scored 48 goals while dishing 17 assists. He also helped Dynamo win US Open Cup in 2018.
Victor Cabrera spent almost his entire career with the Montreal Impact. He debuted for the club in 2014 and has since played 101 games in MLS including both the regular season and the playoffs. Cabrera’s biggest success with Impact is winning the Canadian Championship in 2019.
