]]> Columbus Blue Jackets have been exceeding expectations in 2019/20, but their good form might prove challenging to keep in the second part of the season after their All-Star defenseman Seth Jones will be out for the next two months.

Jones underwent surgery to repair an ankle fracture on Tuesday and is projected to miss eight to 10 weeks while rehabbing. The 25-year-old suffered the injury on Saturday, in a loss to Colorado Avalanche.

Jones has been crucial for Blue Jackets’ success this season, playing 56 games and contributing with six goals and 24 assists alongside a +10 plus/minus rating. He also leads Columbus in time spent on ice with 25:17.

Seth Jones’s great performances earned him an All-Star appearance this year, his fourth consecutive since he joined the Blue Jackets in 2016. Jones previously also played with Nashville Predators and has 524 total appearances in NHL.

Blue Jackets are currently boosting a 30-17-10 record, which is enough for the fourth spot in the Metropolitan Division. They are six games behind the first-place Washington Capitals.
