Despite his Golden State Warriors struggling in 2020-21, star point-guard Steph Curry continues to show why he has two MVP awards to his name. In a tough matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night, Curry scored 41 points to give his team an important win in a race for the play-in spot.

Before meeting the Bucks, the Warriors were on a three-game losing streak and had just one win in their last eight games. It appeared that this trend would continue as Golden State entered the final four minutes of the contest with a 10-point deficit.

After Kelly Oubre Jr. made a three-pointer to cut into the Bucks’ lead, Curry, who had poured in 30 points by then, got the Warriors within reach. The 33-year-old sharpshooter scored five points, including a 29-foot three-pointer, on back-to-back possessions and set up a thrilling finish.

With 30 seconds on the clock, Milwaukee’s Jrue Holiday grabbed an offensive rebound after Pat Connaughton’s three-point attempt and scored a layup to give his team a 121-120 advantage. On the other end, Oubre went to the free-throw line after Brook Lopez’s foul and made it 121-122 for the Warriors.

The Bucks had 7.7 seconds to score, but the Warriors’ defense managed to come through. Andrew Wiggins first blocked Khris Middleton’s three-point attempt, and then Connaughton couldn’t get a good shot despite an offensive rebound in the paint.

Steph Curry was the man of the moment on Tuesday night with 41 points, six rebounds, and two assists. He shot 14-21 from the field, including 5-10 on three-pointers.

Holiday headlined the Bucks’ box score, scoring 29 points with five assists, while Middleton added 28 points and seven assists.

The win now has the Warriors at No. 10 in the Western Conference with a 24-27 record and 1.5 games ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans. The Bucs are No. 3 in the East, sitting 2.5 games behind the leading Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers.

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry already owns an array of shooting records in the NBA and on Sunday night he got closer to another one.

By draining a three-point shot in the first quarter of a 128-129 win against the Chicago Bulls, Curry reached 2,500 made three-pointers in his career and became just the third player in NBA history to get there. He is now in the company of Hall of Famer Reggie Miller (2,560) and two-time NBA champion Ray Allen (2,973).

Curry is also the fastest of the trio to get to this number, needing only 702 games. For comparison, Allen needed 1,021 games while Miller achieved it in 1,288 games.

After only playing five games last season due to an injury, Stephen Curry had trouble finding his shooting rhythm to start the 2020-21 season and is currently making only 25.7 percent of his threes. However, it isn’t hard to see this trend ending soon, especially considering a recent practice video that saw Curry hit 103 consecutive three-pointers during a practice.

Curry currently owns several league records for three-pointers, including the most made in a single season with 402, and the record for most consecutive regular-season games with a made three-pointer with 157. He also led the league in made threes five times.

It appears that the Golden State Warriors and All-Star guard Steph Curry might come to terms about a long-term extension soon.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, Curry admitted that he has ongoing talks with the team about a new deal.

“We have conversations,” said Curry when asked whether he’ll sign an extension with the Warriors. “Everything’s on the table right now.

Curry added that he’s letting the negotiations “play out the way they should”, but reiterated that he wants to be a Warrior for life.

The 32-year-old sharpshooter inked his last deal back in 2017, signing a maximum five-year, $201 million contract with the Warriors. If the organization decides to offer him another extension before the 2020-21 season starts, Curry would be eligible to get three more years and $156 million.

Despite the big numbers, it’s certainly a no-brainer for Golden State to give Steph Curry such an extension. Since they drafted him with the No.7 pick in 2009, Curry revitalized the franchise and established it as arguably the most dominant team in the past decade.

During his time with the Warriors, Curry led the team to three NBA titles and five NBA Finals appearances. He also earned numerous individual accolades, including the two NBA MVP Awards.
