Tom Brady, the most accomplished NFL player in history, announced his retirement from professional football on Wednesday. This is the second time that Brady has retired, having walked away at the end of the 2021 season only to change his mind a month later. But don’t expect the same to happen this time.

Announcing his decision in a video posted on social media, Brady said that his second retirement is “for good”. He also added that he didn’t want to make it a big deal like it was the first time.

“I won’t be long-winded,” said Brady in the clip. “You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me.”

Brady spent the first 20 years of his career with the New England Patriots, leading the franchise to six Super Bowl wins and winning numerous individual accolades. He left New England after the 2019 season to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the Bucs, Brady won another Super Bowl ring while also adding to his expansive list of NFL records.

Following the 2022 NFL season, which ended with a wild-card playoff exit for the Bucs, Brady became a free agent. He was linked with a number of teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Miami Dolphins, but ultimately decided to end his journey as a professional football player.

Despite retirement, Brady will remain involved in football. He already signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox Sports that will see him make him venture into the role of an analyst.

Tom Brady, the most accomplished player in NFL history, confirmed his decision to retire from professional football after 22 seasons in the league. Brady made the announcement on Tuesday via a statement posted on his official social media.

“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore,” Brady, who spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, wrote on Instagram. “I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”

ESPN reported the news about Brady’s retirement late last week, but the Buccaneers and those close to the legendary quarterback insisted that he still hasn’t made the final decision. The 44-year-old followed this up by saying that he’ll reveal his plans for the future “when the time’s right” while making an appearance on the “Let’s Go!” podcast. The time ended up being right less than 24 hours later.

“I’ve done a lot of reflecting the past week and have asked myself difficult questions,” Brady added. “And I am so proud of what we have achieved. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it’s best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes.”

Tom Brady entered the league as the New England Patriots’ sixth-round pick in 2000. He went on to win six Super Bowl rings with the franchise while winning three NFL MVP honors as well. Brady then left New England in 2020 to sign with the Bucs and managed to lead the franchise to a Super Bowl win in his first season in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers were eliminated in the NFC’s divisional round this postseason.

Brady is widely viewed as the greatest quarterback in NFL history and holds almost every passing record there is. He retires with 84,520 passing yards, 624 passing touchdowns, and a career completion percentage of 64.2.

The New Orleans Saints did something that no other NFL team managed to in 15 years. In a 9-0 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints handed quarterback Tom Brady his first shutout since 2006 and only the third in his career.

The Saints went after Brady from the get-go, pressuring him into early throws or forcing him to take a sack. They were so efficient that Brady managed to throw for 214 yards while completing just 54.2 percent of his passes. Both were season-lows for the 44-year-old.

At the end of the game, Brady also had one interception, one forced fumble, and was sacked four times.

The Saints will likely cherish the shutout even more, knowing that they helped franchise legend Drew Brees preserve his record for most games without a shutout (304). Entering the game against New Orleans, Brady had an active streak of 255 games in which his offense put up points on board.

Brady’s struggles on Sunday night were no coincidence. Since he arrived in Tampa ahead of the 2020 NFL season, the Saints were his toughest matchup, and he lost all four times he played against them in the regular season. However, he did get the better of them in the playoffs last season when the Bucs beat New Orleans en route to Super Bowl.

By losing to the Saints, the Bucs have diminished their chances of getting the top seed in NFC. They are currently 10-4 while the conference leaders, Green Bay Packers, have 11-3 and own a tiebreaker.

The Saints, on the other hand, improved to a 7-7 record and kept their playoff chances alive.

The New Orleans Saints’ legend Drew Brees is currently on the top of the NFL’s all-time list for most passing yards 80,358, but he won’t hold the record for much longer. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Tom Brady only needs to pass for 68 more yards to jump over Brees and is expected to do so in Week 4 against his old team, the New England Patriots.

Brees recently spoke with ESPN about Brady breaking his record and said that he wouldn’t want to see it drag any longer. In fact, he would like to see it happen on the first play of the game.

“I’d be all for Brady just launching the first play of the game, just go ahead and get it out of the way,” Brees said. “You said he needs, what? Sixty-eight yards? Let’s have New England kick it in the end zone, start at the 25 and have him launch one to Mike Evans, and let’s just be done with it.”

It shouldn’t surprise that Drew Brees is in favor of seeing his record broken with one big play, as he did the same in 2018. The Saints were playing Washington in Week 5, and Brees entered the game third on the all-time passing list behind Payton Manning and Brett Favre. He first jumped over Favre with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Josh Hill and then passed Manning with a spectacular 62-yard touchdown pass to Tre-Quan Smith.

Once he is passed by Brady on the all-time passing yards list, Brees will still own a few NFL records that might be harder to reach. He is currently the leader in career pass completion percentage with 67.79 completed passes while also holding the record with most consecutive games with a touchdown pass (54).

After leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win earlier this month, quarterback Tom Brady underwent surgery on his knee. And while the procedure was described as a minor “clean-up” at the time, it appears Brady is set to miss more time than expected.

In a recent chat with reporters, Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians said that Brady will be out for several months and is expected to return to full practice “somewhere around June”. But despite this long recovery period, Arians doesn’t seem worried about his veteran signal-caller, adding that Brady can “coach the **** out of” his teammates from the sidelines.

Another sign that the Buccaneers are not concerned about Brady’s recovery is their wish to sign him to an extension. Tampa general manager Jason Licht recently said on “The Rich Eisen Show” that the team is interested in keeping the 43-year-old legend past this season and has already made exploratory talks with his representatives.

Tom Brady signed a two-year deal with the Bucs last offseason, coming to Tampa after 20 years with the New England Patriots. He immediately transformed the team into a contender, putting up a great statistical regular season while proving to be reliable as always in the playoffs.

Tom Brady got the better of Drew Brees on Sunday night as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the New Orleans Saints 30-20 to secure their place in the NFC Championship.

Bucs vs. Saints was arguably the most-anticipated game so far in the playoffs as it delivered a showdown of two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks approaching the end of their careers. It was also the oldest quarterback matchup in postseason history as Tampa Bay’s Brady (43) and New Orleans’ Brees (42) have the combined age of 85.

The clash of veterans did deliver, but not in the way everyone expected. Instead of the aging quarterbacks, the defenses and running games were on display in what turned out to be a highly entertaining game.

The contest was pretty much even throughout the first three quarters, with both teams managing to put 20 points on the scoreboard and set up a nail-biting final period. Here, the Bucs were the team with better nerves as their defense managed to shut down Brees while Brady and the offense did just enough to seal the game.

The turning point came midway through the fourth quarter when Tampa Bay linebacker Devin White managed to pick off Brees in New Orleans’ territory. The Bucs took the ball on the Saints’ 20 and didn’t have much trouble getting it to the endzone.

Brees threw another interception, his third of the game, on the following drive and cleared any doubts about the winner.

Tom Brady finished the game with 199 passing yards, two TD throws, and one TD rush. He is off to Green Bay next week, where he’ll face the Packers and one more future Hall of Fame quarterback in Aaron Rodgers while searching for a shot at his seventh Super Bowl ring.

Drew Brees, on the other hand, managed just 134 yards and one touchdown pass while turning over the ball three times. Brees didn’t offer much info about his future after the game, but he is expected to retire in the next few weeks and start his broadcasting career.

It looks like Tom Brady’s time with New England Patriots has come to an end. Brady, arguably the best quarterback in the NFL history, appeared to confirm he’s leaving the Patriots on Monday via a series of social media posts.

In a statement posted on Instagram and Twitter, Brady thanked the entire Pats’ organization, staff, and coaches, while hinting that he’ll play for another franchise in 2020.

“Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible TEAM accomplishments,” Brady wrote.

“I don’t know what my football future holds, but it is time for me to open a new stage for my life and career,” he added.

Tom Brady spent his entire professional career with the New England Patriots, leading the organization to six Super Bowl titles. Despite their success together, the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract last year, which led to a scenario in which Brady became a free agent for the first time in his accomplished career.

Given that Brady’s mind appears to be made up, once the NFL free agency officially kicks off on March 18th, the 42-year-old will be able to sign with any team he wants. His next destination, however, isn’t so apparent at the moment.

Brady was closely linked with Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders in recent weeks, but neither destination seems likely at the moment. Titans decided to give Ryan Tannehill a new deal over the weekend, while Raiders signed former No.2 overall pick Marcus Mariota in free agency.

Other landing spots for Brady might include Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and possibly Chicago Bears.

Pats, on the other hand, will probably look to add a quality QB in the offseason to compete with 2019’s 4th round pick Jarrett Stidham for the starting spot.

Seeing Tom Brady stepping on the field in a jersey that doesn’t belong to New England Patriots seemed impossible just several months ago. Now, however, it begins to look like a real option.

Brady is set to enter the 2020 off season as a free agent for the first time in his 20-year-long NFL career, and it appears that he is ready to consider all options, including playing for another team. Speaking with Jim Gray on Westwood One Radio, the 42-year-old said that he will be “open-minded” about the free agency.

“I’m open-minded about the process,” Brady told Gray. “At the same time, I love playing football and I want to continue to play and do a great job. So I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. Whatever the future may bring, I’ll embrace it with open arms.”

Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick was asked several times about Tom Brady’s future with the franchise in recent weeks but declined to give assurance that Brady will be back in 2020. Brady, on the other hand, reiterated his intention to play until he’s 45 in follow up interviews, shutting down rumors about his retirement.

There is still a chance that Brady will remain with the Pats, as the two sides have until March to agree on a new deal. If that doesn’t happen, the legendary QB will probably start taking meetings with other teams. At this point, there is no obvious suitor for him, but teams that are look quarterback away from contention, like Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears, might make a run.

New England Patriots managed to get a close 17-10 win on Sunday against Philadelphia Eagles to improve to AFC-best 9-1 record. Despite this, Pats’ quarterback Tom Brady was unhappy after the game and looked like he was on the losing team instead of the winning one.

Speaking on The Greg Hill Show on Monday, Brady explained his behavior saying he was just frustrated with New England’s offense.

“It’s just frustration with the offense; we’re trying to grind them out. I’m happy we won on the road, but at the same time, I just wish we’d score more points,” said Brady. “We have to figure out how we can fix our problems as best we can.”

Brady threw for 216 yards on Sunday but failed to have a single touchdown pass. Instead, it was wide receiver Julian Edelman who had a passing TD against Philly. According to ESPN, this was the first time in Brady’s 20-year-long NFL career that he didn’t lead his team in a number of passing TDs in a game he played from the beginning to the end.

“I just wish we would play better offensively,” Brady added. “We have to go do it. I don’t think it’s about talking about it. It’s about doing it and trying to get the best we can out of our offense, and seeing if we can be more productive and score more points.”

Tom Brady is currently in the middle of one of the less-productive seasons of his career, which is understandable considering he turned 42 in August. Brady threw for 2,752 yards and 14 TDs in 2019 while adding five interceptions. His QBR is 90.1 through 11 weeks of this season, which is the lowest he had since 2013.
