Washington Nationals have made another important offseason move today, adding reliever Will Harris. While the team is yet to officially confirm the move, Harris, who previously played for Houston Astros, confirmed the deal with the reigning World Series champion in a chat with MLB.com.

According to USA Today, Harris and Washington agreed to a three year, $24 million deal.

“I felt like the whole process was kind of trending toward the Nationals maybe from the beginning,” said Harris. “They seemed to be the most bullish on me and made me a priority from the beginning…They were on my really, really short list of places I wanted to go and to have that kind of matchup, I think, was great for everybody.”

Harris’ decision to join the Nationals might come as a surprise to some, considering he just recently went against them in World Series as a member of Houston Astros and lost. The 35-year-old’s most notable move was allowing Howie Kendrick’s home run in a decisive Game 7.

Despite this costly mistake, Will Harris had a good 2019 regular season, in which he posted a 4-1 record with 1.50 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 68 games. He added 0.93 ERA and 11 strikeouts in the postseason.

Harris previously also played with Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks. He has an All-Star appearance from 2016 while winning World Series with Astros in 2017.
