]]> Washington Nationals are making sure they will have their key players from the World Series-winning roster back for the 2020 MLB season.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Nationals agreed to terms with free-agent catcher Yan Gomes and will bring him back on a two-year deal. Passan also reports that the 32-year-old is set to make $10 million overall during the duration of the deal.

Yan Gomes joined Nationals in late 2018 from Cleveland Indians and managed to form a reliable catching partnership with Kurt Suzuki. Gomes ended up starting 90 games in the regular season, having a batting average of .223 with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs. He also started the final four games of the World Series against Houston Astros, eventually catching Daniel Hudson’s strikeout which brought Washington the title.

Gomes started his MLB career with Toronto Blue Jays in 2012, before joining the Indians the following year. Over the course of his career, he has Silver Slugger Award from 2014 and an All-Star appearance from 2018. His career stats include .245 batting average, 99 homers, and 351 RBIs.
