While Pau Gasol nears the end of his playing career, he isn’t ready to consider retirement quite yet. The six-time NBA All-Star hasn’t played basketball in over a year after suffering from a stress fracture in his left foot and signing this year with the Portland Trail Blazers.

During a chat with the Spanish media, the 39-year-old player said that he would like to play one more season with the Los Angeles Lakers or Barcelona. After suffering from the injury in March 2019, he ended up leaving the franchise without making a single appearance.

But, Gasol isn’t ready to part from basketball just yet and he’s hoping to be part of Spain’s basketball team at the Olympics in Tokyo next year. To prepare for this, he plans to play another season with the NBA or Europe.

“My intention is to play another season if the foot is OK, either in the NBA or in Europe. A final season with the Lakers is attractive, finishing at Barca is attractive, but you have to see the real possibilities and see what situation would be best for the circumstances of the moment.”

This all depends on how his foot heals. “When I can start running and jumping I will have a lot more information to know for sure if the foot and the bone are consolidated for me to be playing professional basketball again,” Gasol added.

During his time with the NBA, Gasol has played 19 seasons for teams including the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Sprurs. He’s won two NBA titles with the Lakers, had six All-Star appearances, and made the All-NBA team four times.

Paris Saint-Germain captain is set to leave the French champions this summer after spending eight seasons with the club.

French media outlets L’Équipe and RMC reported that Silva was informed by the club that he won’t be offered an extension to his contract beyond the PSG UEFA Champions League campaign.

The Brazilian defender’s contract was supposed to expire in June, but his stay was prolonged for another two months due to the coronavirus. The 35-year-old player already played his last Ligue 1 game as the league chose to cancel the rest of the 2019/20 season and gave the title to PSG.

According to reports, Silva isn’t getting an extension because the club’s dealing with a huge financial loss this year and is looking to cut their budget and Silva’s salary is demanding. Julian Draxler, Edinson Cavani, and Leandro Paredes could also be affected by this budget cut.

Thiago Silva joined the club in 2012 with a record $50 million transfer from Series A side Milan. In his eight seasons in Paris, Silva won more than 20 trophies including seven Ligue 1 titles and played 310 games.

It’s still uncertain where Silva will play next, but reportedly his home country of Brazil and signing with Fluminesnse, is up there on the list.

Malik Monk, the shooting guard for the Charlotte Hornets, has been reinstated following his suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug program.

On February 26, Monk was suspended indefinitely by the league and missed eight games before the 2019/2020 season was put on hold due to the coronavirus. Prior to suspension, the 22-year-old player averaged 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in just 21 minutes per game.

The NBA determined that Monk is fully compliant with the anti-drug program and they decided to lift the suspension.

Even though Monk was reinstated, he won’t be playing this season as the Hornets weren’t among the 22 teams that are set to resume the season in Orlando. They lost their chances to make the playoffs as they were 23-42 prior to the season being suspended and were 10th seed in the East being 30 games behind the 1st-place Milwaukee Bucks.

“We welcome him back, and we move forward,” Hornets’ coach James Borrego said. “Malik is ready to move forward. Obviously we haven’t been on the court with him; he’s been in our facility, which is a positive, but we welcome him back and we have work to do this summer and I know he’s ready to do it.”

Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets’ star player, decided to take his shot in the world of soccer. Sports Business Daily reports that Durant purchased a stake in MLS side Philadelphia Union, making him a minority owner of the team.

The details are still unknown, but his stake is reportedly between 1% to 5%.

The NBA player has been interested in investing in a soccer team for a while now and has previously made two attempts to get a stake in his hometown club D.C. United. He was unsuccessful with D.C. United, but he remained interested in the MLS market and took the shot when the Philly opportunity became available.

Philadelphia Union began playing MLS as an expansion team in 2010, and so far, the club hasn’t had much success, but its fan base has been growing which may make them a good investment in the future.

Kevin Durant isn’t the only NBA player to invest in business ventures in soccer; Lebron James invested in soccer in 2011, buying a 2% stake in Premier League’s Liverpool and Houston Rockets’ player James Harden is part of an ownership group that took over Houston Dynamo and he owns a small part of the club.
