Tiger Woods is back at the Augusta National Golf Club. Woods has been practicing at the course on Sunday, which is a great indication that he will compete at the 2024 Masters when the tournaments tee off on April 11.

Woods will be looking to make the cut at the Masters for the 24th consecutive time, which would be a new record. He is currently tied with Gary Player and Fred Couples at 23 made cuts.

Woods made it to the third round at the 2023 Masters but decided to withdraw after play was suspended due to heavy rain on Saturday. Woods explained that he was dealing with a plantar fasciitis injury in his foot and that he was unable to walk properly.

After last year’s Masters, Woods’ only other PGA Tour appearance was the Genesis Invitational in February. He had to withdraw once again, this time citing lower back tightness and flu as the reasons.

Tiger Woods was involved in a car crash in February 2021 and sustained multiple leg injuries that required surgery. This was followed by another surgery in April 2023 to address lingering ankle issues. Since the crash, Woods made six starts and only finished two tournaments.

Golf legend Tiger Woods announced on Saturday that he intends to play at the 2023 Hero World Challenge. The tournament, which will be hosted by Woods, is set to take place from November 30 to December 3 at Albany Golf Club in The Bahamas.

This will be the first time Woods competes since he underwent an ankle surgery in spring.

Woods last played at the 2023 Masters, where he made the cut for a record-tying 23rd consecutive time. However, he was forced to retire due to issues with his ankle, which were a result of his car accident in 2021, before completing the third round.

Speaking with The Associated Press earlier this week, Wood said that the surgery was successful and that his ankle is fully healthy. But, he also explained that there are some other issues he is dealing with.

“My ankle is fine,” Woods said. “When they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issues whatsoever. The pain is completely gone. It’s the other areas that have been compensated for.”

The car accident and the resulting health issues have limited Woods to only five tournament appearances since February 2021. He finished 47th at the 2022 Masters and competed at the 2022 PGA Championship but ended up withdrawing after the third round. He also played at the 2022 Open Championship but ended up being cut.

The U.S. Open has a new champion. After four days of exciting golf, American Wyndham Clark emerged at the top, winning the tournament by one shot.

Clark edged out the likes of Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler to capture his first career major.

Nothing pointed out that Clark had this kind of run in him. Back in 2022, he was the 293rd player on the Official World Golf Ranking list, and he never finished better than tie for 75th in the majors. Also, he was cut on both of his previous U.S. Open appearances.

“I feel like I belong on this stage, and even two, three years ago, when people didn’t know who I was, I felt like I could still play and compete against the best players in the world,” Clark said of his win. “I felt like I’ve shown that this year.”

The first round of this year’s U.S. Open saw Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele tie for the lead with -8 to par. They set the lowest rounds in U.S. Open history and tied for the lowest round in any major. At that point, Wyndham Clark was tied for third with -6 to par.

Fowler kept his lead in the second round to finish -10 to par, while Clark jumped to second place, being just one shot behind. Clark tied Fowler at -10 in the third round, setting up a thrilling final round.

Clark kept his cool under pressure, shooting an even-par 70 to keep his lead intact compared to the rest of the field. Fowler bogeyed three times in the first seven holes and never recovered. He dropped down to -5 to par, finishing the tournament tied for fifth. McIlroy (-9) and Scheffler (-8) finished second and third respectively.

We won’t get to see Tiger Woods back on golf courses anytime soon. The 15-time major champion announced on Wednesday that he underwent ankle surgery and is likely facing a lengthy break while recovering.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Woods shared that the procedure addressed the consequences of the injuries he suffered in a car crash he had in early 2021. The surgery was determined as “successful,” and the 47-year-old is currently recovering and “looks forward to beginning his rehabilitation.”

When reached out to by The Associated Press, Wood’s agent Mark Steinberg said that there is currently “no timetable” on Woods’ return to golf.

“The first goal is to recover and lead a much more enjoyable day-to-day life,” Steinberg added.

Tiger Woods played in the 2023 Masters earlier this month, making the cut for the 23rd straight time in his career and tying the all-time record for most consecutive cuts made. He would go on to retire from the event in the third round after leg pain made it hard for him to move through the first eight holes.

Woods previously intended to appear in all four major events this year, but that won’t be the case now. PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, and The Open are all taking place in the next three months, and considering the usual recovery time for the surgery Woods had, he won’t recover in time to play at any of them.

Jon Rahm is the new Masters champion. Rahm took advantage of leader Brooks Koepka’s mistakes, shooting a three-under 69 in the final round to become just the fourth Spanish golfer to win the green jacket at Augusta National.

Entering the final round, Rahm was -9 to par, trailing Koepka by two shots. He tied for the lead after Koepka’s miss on a par putt on the fourth before pulling ahead by the eighth hole and never looking back.

Rahm now has two major titles under his belt after becoming the first Spaniard to win the U.S. Open in 2021.

“We all dream of things like this as players, and you try to visualize what it’s going to be like and what it’s going to feel like,” Rahm said after the win. “Never thought I was going to cry by winning a golf tournament, but I got very close on that 18th hole.”

“And a lot of it because of what it means to me, and to Spanish golf,” he added. “It’s Spain’s 10th major, the fourth player to win the Masters. It’s pretty incredible.”

The final round at the 2023 Masters also saw a vintage performance from three-time champion Phil Mickelson. Mickelson came in 10 shots off the lead but ended the round shooting seven-under 65 to tie his career-best and set the record at the Masters for a player over 50. He also became the oldest player to finish in the Top 5 at the age of 57.

Matt Fitzpatrick came into this year’s 2022 U.S. Open as one of the underdogs, but that didn’t stop him from walking away with the top prize. The English golfer won his very first major championship and his first PGA Tour event at this tournament on Sunday.

Fitzpatrick had to face some pretty tough competition to win his very first title and finished the tournament with a score of 274, six-under-par. It was a close race until the very last moment, and he finished only a shot ahead of Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris.

Despite coming into the tournament with zero major titles under his belt, the 27-year-old golfer felt confident in his abilities after putting a lot of patience and hard work into his training.

“I’ve got confidence in myself. I back myself. I really feel like I can compete out here. I feel like I’m better than what I’ve already achieved, I really do. I think for me this is such a special thing for the work that I’ve put in over the last few years to pay off into this,” Fitzpatrick told BBC Sport.

The 2022 United States Open Championship took place at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, between June 16-19. Fitzpatrick became the second male golfer after Jack Nicklaus to win both U.S Open and U.S. Amateur titles at the same venue.

Scottie Scheffler backed up his ranking as a No. 1 golf player in the world with a win at the 2022 Masters Tournament on Sunday. This was the first major win for the 25-year-old player and the fourth event he had won in the past six starts.

Scheffler’s road to the coveted green jacket looked straightforward as he built up a sizeable lead in the first three rounds. He was -12 under and well clear of his closest opponents at one point. Things changed on Sunday when Scheffler saw some late pressure from Cameron Smith and Rory McIlroy.

Smith birdied the first two holes, causing Scheffler’s lead to shrink to one. However, the Australian missed the par putt on the third and bogeyed on the fourth to fall behind again.

On the other hand, McIlroy was 10 shots behind at the beginning of the final round but managed to pull back impressively. He made four birdies on his front nine and eagled on the 13th. The former No. 1 ended up with 64 (–8), which was the record-tying score for the final round in Masters history.

But this wasn’t enough to upset Scheffler, who managed to finish three shots ahead despite a double bogey on the 18th. McIlroy was second, his best result at Masters, while Smith tied for 3rd.

“If you’re going to choose a golf tournament to win, this would be the tournament,” said Scheffler at his press conference. “You don’t know how many chances you’re going to get.

Tiger Woods will make his return to golf next week. The 44-year-old announced on social media that he’ll take part in Memorial Tournament, which is scheduled to take place at Ohio’s Muirfield Village Golf Club from July 16th to July 19th.

Woods wrote on Twitter that he’s looking forward to playing at the tournament while adding that he “missed going out and competing with the guys and can’t wait to get back out there.”

Memorial Tournament will be Woods’ first tournament since February and the final round of the Genesis Invitational. He then missed WGC Mexico Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the Players Championship due to back stiffness before the PGA Tour was suspended.

Tiger Woods previously announced that he recovered from knee surgery he underwent in August and will be fit enough to defend his Masters win from 2019. Masters will be scheduled to take place in April but was postponed until November due to coronavirus pandemic.

PGA Championship and U.S. Open were also rescheduled and will now take place in August and September respectively. The Open Championship, on the other hand, has canceled its 2020 edition.

It seems like Tiger Woods just can’t catch a break from injuries. After a serious of minor health issues in the past few months, Woods now had to undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee. According to Yahoo Sports, this is at least the fifth knee surgery that the 43-year-old golfer had so far.

Luckily for Woods, however, the procedure shouldn’t sideline him for an extended period of time, and he is expected to make a full recovery in time for PGA Tour tournament in Japan in October.

“I expect Tiger to make a full recovery. We did what was needed, and also examined the entire knee. There were no additional problems,” said Dr. Vern Cooley, who performed the procedure, in a statement shared on Wood’s official Twitter profile.

After struggling with back injuries for the past several years, Tiger Woods made a big comeback in 2019 when he won Masters Tournament. This was his first majors win in 11 years. Although it looked like he left injuries behind at the time, Woods soon found himself facing health issues again.

Woods dealt with back stiffness in recent months while suffering a neck strain that saw him being forced to miss the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He also pulled out of Northern Trust due to oblique strain.

This weekend we had a great and surprising competition at the Pebble Beach Golf Links Course for the 119th US Open.

American Gary Woodland stunned everyone, managing to win the competition with his biggest victory at the US Open to date. Woodland won the hearts of the audience showing great calmness under the intense pressure of the game, but the biggest news of the competition was not his incredible victory.

Instead, it was what he stopped from happening. With his victory, Woodland held off the reigning champion Brooks Koepka who was on his way to become the second man who would have won three US Opens in a row which is a record lasting 115 years since Scot Anderson won three consecutive US Opens.

The 35-year-old Woodland managed to post a 69 for a 13 under total. The now champion was training with the famous Yorkshireman Pete Cowen who also worked with Koepka. The work of the Cowen showed with the stunning result Woodland managed to pull off this weekend at Pebble Beach.
