Myles Garrett is set to become the highest paid (per year) defensive player in the NFL when he signs a 5 year, $125 million contract with the Cleveland Browns. Both Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack have signed deals worth more money overall ($135 million and $141 million respectively), but both of their contracts are for 6 years, making their yearly payments slightly less than Garret’s $25 million per year.

The Number 1 overall pick in 2017 has proved that he is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. In 37 games the 24-year-old player has compiled 30.5 sacks, 65 QB hits, and 32 tackles for loss.

His rare combination of size, power, and speed makes him a threat to any offense, and the young DE has gotten better every year. Although he is famous for instigating an ugly brawl last year with the Steelers in which he swung his helmet at Mason Rudolph’s head, the Browns are showing that they believe in his abilities both on and off the field with this new record contract expected to be finalized very soon.
