Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick had a great statistical 2019 season, racking up 57 tackles, five interceptions, and two touchdowns while earning both Pro Bowl and All-Pro nods. Now, as he enters his second season at Heinz Field, Fitzpatrick aims to be even more productive.

Speaking with Steelers’ official website, Fitzpatrick said that he wants to increase his interception numbers in 2020.

“I am going to go with six,” said Fitzpatrick. “I had five last year. I am trying to beat that. I think I missed some opportunities last year. I am going to go with six or seven.”

Steelers acquired Fitzpatrick last September from Miami Dolphins, paying a hefty price, which included a first-round pick. While many thought at the time that Pittsburgh overpaid at the time, it turned out to be a great decision.

Fitzpatrick believes Steelers will get an even bigger return from their investment, as he believes he is positioned to have an even better year now that he has one full year in the team’s system under his belt.

“Last year was my first year playing full-time free safety, deep safety, and I am still learning,” he added. “I wanted to learn a lot about the deep safety position and how to improve.”
