The Los Angeles Lakers power forward Anthony Davis is eyeing his return to the court as he continues to rehabilitate from his right foot injury, league sources confirmed on Monday.

Davis has missed 13 consecutive games following the Lakers’ 122-109 loss to the Nuggets on Monday night due to a bone spur fractured off the navicular bone in his right foot. The Lakers have struggled in Davis’s absence, going 7-6 overall without the star player.

“I’ve already kind of had visions of what that could possibly look like with the frontcourt of myself, AD, and Thomas on the floor together,” LeBron James said following the Lakers’ 136-134 victory over the Sacramento Kings last Saturday night.

During Davis’s absence, Thomas Bryant has emerged as a standout player on the Lakers’ roster. He averaged 21.2 points on 71.9% shooting and 13.6 rebounds during the team’s five-game winning streak leading up to the loss against the Nuggets.

Byrant, who has also had a history of injury concerns including a partially torn ACL in his left knee two years ago, has only been on the court together with Davis for 13 minutes total this season.

LeBron James commented on the Los Angeles Lakers struggles without Anthony Davis following the team’s 124-115 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. This marks the Lakers’ fourth consecutive loss during Davis’s absence.

With Davis still sidelined due to picking up a stress injury in his right foot a week ago, the Lakers have resorted to playing Patrick Beverley alongside Dennis Schroder in the backcourt.

“Reality is, without AD, we lose a lot of length, which we don’t have already,” James said of the Lakers’ performances without Davis. “So we have to make up in ways that, without AD, is very difficult, very challenging. So, I think at one point we had a lineup of I think [Austin Reaves, at 6-5] was the tallest guy on the court.”

Lakers general manager and vice president of basketball operations Ron Pelinka admitted that the team is in need of bringing in new talent while admitting that finding trades is his responsibility.

James led all scorers during Sunday’s loss, scoring 38 points with 13-for-23 shooting.

The Los Angeles Lakers probably had a collective sigh of relief on Friday when they learned that superstar Anthony Davis’ foot injury is not as serious as they initially believed. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers are now optimistic that they could have Davis back in early January.

Wojnarowski reports that the pain in Davis’ foot “has subsided” lately and that the 29-year-old player is now set to have up to 10 days of rest before being re-evaluated. The Lakers hope he’ll be ready to play shortly after that.

Davis suffered a foot injury in a 126-103 win over the Denver Nuggets last week after colliding with Nikola Jokic. The Lakers initially branded the injury as “foot soreness” but internally feared that the All-Star forward might need a procedure. After putting the player through a number of tests in recent days, the team now feels the surgery won’t be necessary and is referring to Davis’ condition as “a stress injury.”

If Davis manages to get back on the reported timeline, that would be great news for the Lakers. He has been by far their best player, averaging 27.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. He has also put himself in the conversation for NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

The Lakers are already finding out that life without Davis is quite hard. They are currently on a three-game losing streak that dropped their record to 13-19.

The Lakers star Anthony Davis picked up a right foot injury during his team’s 126-108 win over the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.

Davis seemed to tweak his right foot after his lower leg collided with Nikola Jokic as the two bumped into each other midair during the first quarter. Davis was unable to return to the game following the halftime break.

A source close to the matter disclosed that Davis is experiencing discomfort in his right foot and is likely to undergo an MRI for further evaluation.

Lakers coach Darvin Ham confirmed that Davis has already received X-rays at the arena and that further information on his condition is expected on Saturday.

“I don’t want to speak on it until I know exactly what’s going on,” Ham told reporters. “I’ll know more tomorrow.”

This is the latest in a series of injury concerns for Davis. Over the past two seasons, the player has missed more than half of the Lakers’ regular-season games. Davis appeared to be in better shape this season, however, playing in 24 of Los Angeles’ 27 games to date.

The Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis were both absent from their team’s 126-113 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. While James continues to battle with left ankle soreness, Davis finds himself faced with non-Covid related illness.

James’ absence from the Raptors’ game is his seventh of the season, having missed two weeks in November due to a groin strain. He initially tweaked his ankle against the Indiana Pacers last week before aggravating the injury in games against the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards.

“A lot of players that play at that elite level, a lot of times you just have to save them from themselves,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said of his decision to rest James on Wednesday night.

Davis missed the defeat to the Raptors due to flu symptoms that resulted in his early exit from the Lakers’ loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday. According to Ham, Davis felt dehydrated and too drained to continue playing, thereby leading to his second-quarter exit. He was administered fluids and medications after leaving the game.

The Lakers have two games left in their six-game road trip: they face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday before going head-to-head with the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis left his team’s 116-102 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers early after experiencing flu-like symptoms. According to Lakers head coach Darvin Ham, Davis was the only player to exhibit such symptoms.

According to the team, Davis had a fever during the afternoon leading up to the game. The player was removed from the game during the first half and was administered fluids and medications by the Lakers’ training staff. The team stated that Davis’s illness is not Covid-related.

“His temperature went over a 100, I believe it was 101 and some change,” Ham revealed. “He said he was going to try and give it a go, which he did. But he just felt too weak, just too drained — dehydrated a little bit. But it’s that time of the season, in terms of wintertime, weather change, change of climate — coming from L.A. going to these different places.”

Davis’s status ahead of the game against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday remains undecided. He joined the team on its flight to Toronto on Tuesday night and is expected to be evaluated during Wednesday’s training in order to determine if he is match fit.

The Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is expected to return from injury on Monday in time to play in his team’s game against the Indiana Pacers. Thomas Bryant filled in for Davis during the Lakers’ 143-138 win against the San Antonio Spurs as Davis recovered from a left calf contusion that he picked up during Friday’s 105-94 win against the Spurs.

“He was kicked at some point in the second half [Friday] night and it’s a little irritated, a little bruising,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham confirmed prior to Saturday’s game. “So just trying to stay ahead of it and be a little cautious and take our time with it. But he’s out [of Saturday’s game].”

Davis has been a key member of the Lakers’ success this season, averaging 33.4 points on 64.4% shooting, 17.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks in his first five games this season. Before injuring his left calf, Davis scored 25 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks during the Lakers’ win on Friday.

The 29-year-old player’s power forward/center has struggled to remain fit over the past two seasons, missing the majority of both seasons’ games due to injury. This is the second time that Davis has been sidelined this season, the first time being on October 28 against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to lower back tightness.

All-Star Anthony Davis is staying with Los Angeles Lakers for five more years. Davis and Lakers agreed to a new five-year deal, worth $190 million.

The contract runs through the 2024-25 season and gives Davis an early termination option after the fourth year.

Davis’ agent Rich Paul confirmed the agreement in a chat with ESPN, adding that his client is expected to ink the contract in the following days.

Davis, who joined the Lakers last offseason in a blockbuster trade from the New Orleans Pelicans, reportedly didn’t even consider going elsewhere despite being an unrestricted free agent this summer. The only unknown revolved around the type of contract he will sign.

In recent weeks, the 27-year-old considered various scenarios that included both short-term and long-term commitments to the Lakers. In the end, he decided to play it safe and take the max offer.

In his first season with the Lakers, Davis helped the franchise win its first NBA Title since 2010 while playing some of his best basketball. During the regular season, Davis averaged 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game while earning First-Team All-NBA and All-Star nods and finishing runner-up in NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Davis’ production went up in the postseason, scoring 27.7 points per game while adding 9.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Locking Davis long-term comes just days after the Lakers also signed superstar LeBron James to a new contract. With the two on board, the franchise reassured basketball fans that they’ll remain in the title conversation for years to come.

The LA Lakers surged into a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference Final, defeating the Denver Nuggets in a tight 105-103 thriller.

While the Nuggets pushed the Lakers to the limit throughout the match, Lakers’ center Anthony Davis overcame Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic to score a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send his Lakers teammates into absolute hysteria.

Davis proved himself to be the key to the Lakers’ triumph, leading the fight to erase the Nuggets’ 16-point lead in the second half of the game. Davis also happened to score the Lakers’ last seven points in the game.

This game proved to be a great moment of redemption for Davis, who was still reeling from the three-pointer from the same spot that he missed during the loss against the Brooklyn Nets prior to the COVID lockdown. In that circumstance, his three points would have earned the Lakers the victory as well.

“He was doubting himself,” teammate LeBron James recalled. “And I was telling him, ‘You’re not going to make them all.’ But the belief in just taking it and living with the results is what it’s all about. And tonight was his moment to find a space and hunt the ball down.”

As expected, the NBA All-Defensive First Team is headlined by Antetokounmpo with 195 points (97 first-team votes), Los Angeles Lakers’ forward Anthony Davis, who got 87 first-team votes and collected 187 points, and Philadelphia 76ers’ All-Star Ben Simmons (88 first-team votes, 185 points).

The NBA All-Defensive Second Team consists of Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo, LA Clippers’ pair Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Beverley, and Bucks’ duo Brook Lopez and Eric Bledsoe.

The NBA handed out a majority of its regular-season honors for the 2019/20 season, including Most Improved Player (New Orleans Pelicans’ Brandon Ingram), Sixth Man of the Year (Clippers’ Montrezl Harrell), and Rookie of the Year (Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant).

After recently handing out the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award to Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, NBA now got around to honoring the rest of its defensive talents announcing the All-Defensive Teams for the 2019/20 season.

The trio is joined by Boston Celtics’ guard Marcus Smart, and Utah Jazz’s center Rudy Gobert, who received his fourth straight selection.

The only individual award left to be announced is Most Valuable Player, while the league also hasn’t revealed its All-Rookie teams and the All-NBA teams.
