The Buffalo Bills made a significant move on Tuesday in an attempt to address their struggles on offense and turn things around after a disappointing 5-5 start of the 2023 NFL season. The team fired their offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, ending his stint with the franchise after four and a half years.

The Bills confirmed the news on Tuesday while also announcing that quarterbacks coach Joe Barry will take over the OC duties on an interim basis.

The Bills have lost three out of their last four games, including a Monday Night Football loss to the Denver Broncos, and find themselves in danger of missing the playoffs if they don’t turn things around quickly. This would be a disaster for a team that was considered one of the Super Bowl contenders entering the season.

“Just felt like it was time for a change,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott told reporters about the move. “You know, we need to be a confident offensive football team and find consistent production, and that’s really what it came down to.”

Ken Dorsey joined the Bills in 2019 as a quarterbacks coach after previously serving five years in the same role with the Carolina Panthers. He added passing game coordinator to his title in 2021 before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022 following Brian Daboll’s departure.

The Bills were a potent offense in Dorsey’s first year in charge, finishing second in points per game (28.4) and total offense (397.6) in 2022. However, Buffalo’s offense failed to perform on the same level this season while becoming alarmingly inconsistent. McDermott now hopes that Barry will manage to instill some spark and get quarterback Josh Allen and co. performing the way they showed they could.

The Buffalo Bills handed out new extensions to their head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. According to the team’s announcement, both McDermott and Beane are now under contract with the franchise through 2027.

McDermott and Beane were hired together in 2017 and have since established the Bills as one of the best teams in the NFL. During their time at the helm, the Bills made the playoffs in five out of six seasons and have one AFC Championship appearance. Prior to that, the Bills haven’t been to the postseason in 17 years.

Beane is credited for building a strong roster with great draft picks and successful signings on the trade and free agent market. He drafted franchise quarterback Josh Allen and All-Pro corner Tre’Davious White while acquiring star wideout Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings.

McDermott, on the other hand, did a great job with the roster Beane put at his disposal. Under him, the Bills saw only one season with a losing record while getting 10 or more wins in each of the past four campaigns. They also have three straight AFC East division titles.

The Buffalo Bills ownership now hopes the team can build on the past success and return to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1993.

The Buffalo Bills are boosting their backfield with a proven veteran. The team announced on Monday that they had reached a one-year deal agreement with running back Latavius Murray.

Murray played 13 games in 2022 with the Denver Broncos and the New Orleans Saints. He rushed for 760 yards and six touchdowns.

A running back was considered a need for the Bills entering the offseason, and many believed that the team would address it at some point in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, Buffalo opted to strengthen the tight end and wide receiver positions while also adding contributors on defense.

Considering his size and experience, Murray will likely be used for short-yardage situations in key moments. He joins James Cook, whom the Bills selected in the second round of last year’s draft, veteran Nyheim Hines, and undrafted free agent signing Jordan Mims in the running back room.

Latavius Murray played for five different franchises in the nine years of his pro career. His best NFL season came in 2015 as a member of the Raiders, when he rushed for 1,066 yards and six touchdowns while adding 41 receptions for 232 receiving yards.

Murray, who also suited up with the Minnesota Vikings and the Baltimore Ravens, has 6,252 career rushing yards and 55 rushing touchdowns.

League sources have reported that the Buffalo Bills are looking to bring defensive end Shaq Lawson back to the team on a one-year deal. Lawson is yet to sign a contract with the team.

By agreeing to a deal, Lawson would be returning to the team that drafted him as the 19th overall pick in the 2016 draft out of Clemson. The 29-year-old played for the Bills for four seasons before spending 2020 with the Miami Dolphins and 2021 with the New York Jets.

Last season, Lawson returned to the Bills on a one-year veteran minimum deal, playing in 15 games for the Bills and starting six. Lawson’s playing time increased on Thanksgiving when Von Miller suffered a season-ending right knee injury.

The final few weeks of the season were when Lawson got into fine form, with the defensive end getting two of his 3.5 sacks in the last four games. He also finished the season with nine quarterback hits; four more than his season with the Jets.

26-year-old running back Damien Harris has signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills. The arrival of Harris comes as the Bills’ previous lead rusher Devin Singletary signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans worth $3.75 million.

Singletary’s departure is a major loss for the Bills, considering that he led the team in rushing since he was first selected by the team in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Harris was drafted by the New England Patriots just 14 places later.

Harris was the number one running back for the Patriots until he was passed over for Rhamondre Stevenson in 2022. He was also limited to just six games due to a thigh injury.

Prior to joining the Bills, Harris revealed his willingness to remain with the Patriots. “If they want to have me, I’d love to be back,” he explained. “But at the end of the day, I know this is a business. The organization is going to do what they feel is best for them and I have to do what I feel is best for me.”

The Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been visiting his team’s training facility on an “almost daily” basis as he continues his recovery after suffering a cardiac arrest two weeks ago.

Coach Sean McDermott revealed on Wednesday that Hamlin has been paying frequent visits to the facility where he has been fraternizing with his teammates and getting into a routine. McDermott confirmed that Hamlin was at the Bills’ facility on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the Bills coach, Hamlin’s involvement in the team remains minimal at this stage. “It’s limited, just overall but he comes in and really just started really today or yesterday and just trying to get back to a little bit of a routine and just get himself acclimated again and taking it one step, one baby step at a time here,” McDermott explained.

Hamlin visited his teammates on Saturday during their walkthrough before their game against the Miami Dolphins. While he did not attend the Bills’ victory on Sunday, he watched the game remotely.

Following the 31-34 victory over the Dolphins, the Bills are set to face the Cincinnati Bengals in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs. This is a repeat of the regular fixture in which Hamlin collapsed, thus leading to its suspension.

Damar Hamlin has been showing “signs of improvement” after going into cardiac arrest during the Buffalo Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Bills confirmed on Wednesday.

Hamlin remains in critical condition, however, signs of improvement including improved oxygen levels were observed starting on Tuesday and continuing into the following day. According to the Bills’ statement, he is expected to remain in intensive care until further notice as his medical team continues to monitor and treat him.

The Bills team returned to practice for the first time on Wednesday following Hamlin’s collapse and hospitalization during Monday night’s game. They started with a walk-through and team meetings.

Jordon Rooney, a friend and business partner of Hamlin, claimed that the 24-year-old safety was still sedated early morning while confirming the positive readings that doctors had seen from the Bills player. Hamlin’s uncle, Dorrian Glenn elaborated further, stating that Hamlin’s oxygen dependency was lowered from 100% to 50%.

The NFL revealed that the abandoned game between the Bills and the Bengals would not be rescheduled for this week. The league is yet to decide on a later date.

Buffalo Bills star Von Miller will be out for the remainder of the season after he underwent surgery for an ACL injury, coach Sean McDermott confirmed on Wednesday.

After undergoing explorative surgery on Tuesday, it was discovered that Miller has incurred an ACL injury in his right knee. The player was initially placed on injured reserve on Thursday prior to the Bills’ game against the New England Patriots, after which it was determined that he would need to undergo a knee scope in order to diagnose the core issue.

Initially, the Bills had hoped that Miller would return to action later on in the season, with Miller himself expressing his hope to return to the field in Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. This hope was dashed on Monday, however, when his knee was inspected by Dr. Dan Cooper, a specialist in surgical techniques for knee and shoulder injuries. Dr. Cooper expressed concern over the looseness of Miller’s knee.

“Unfortunate situation, for Von, obviously, and our team. Care for him, obviously, like we would any player,” McDermott said during a public address. “We know how much this means to him in terms of playing and being with the team, so we look forward to getting him back, obviously off the field for the rest of the season and his leadership, and we’re certainly thinking about him as he recovers here.”

The Buffalo Bills Pass-rusher Von Miller has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced hours before their game against the New England Patriots on Thursday night. This comes as the player continues to battle with a knee injury.

Miller was diagnosed with lateral meniscus damage to his right knee after getting injured during Buffalo’s win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. As a result, he will be ruled out of action for at least four games. By placing him on injured reserve just hours before Thursday night’s game, the 24-10 victory over the Patriots counts as one of the four games.

General manager Brandon Beane confirmed that Miller should be able to return from injury before the end of the season. “He’s been doing treatment and trying to rehab it,” Beane stated. “We don’t want to rush him back, and he’s a competitor. That’s why we love him. That’s why he’s so great. The competitor in him — if he could wheel it out there tonight, he would do it. We just think in talking to the medical people that the best decision right now is to give this time, and that gives him the best opportunity to help us down the stretch.”

Buffalo Bills pass-rusher Von Miller is set to undergo an MRI exam on Friday after he incurred a knee injury during the Bills’ 28-25 win over the Detroit Lions on Thursday. Although sources close to the matter believe that Miller may have avoided serious injury, further tests are required in order to confirm the extent of the damage.

“I only connected with [head athletic trainer] Nate [Breske] at halftime, so I don’t have anything to give you on that,” coach Sean McDermott stated, confirming that he remains unsure as to Miller’s injury status.

With less than three minutes left in the first half of the Lions’ game, Miller was rolled up on a first-and-10 play at the Bills’ 16-yard line. He subsequently spent several minutes kneeling on the ground while consulting with the Bills’ trainers. After spending a couple of minutes in the fieldside medical tent, Miller was carted off to the locker room.

Miller’s absence places added pressure on the Bills’ already injury-stricken defense, with both Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa, the team’s top pass rushers, out through ankle injuries.
