The Cleveland Browns have started off the 2020 NFL season in typical Browns fashion, getting blown out by the Baltimore Ravens 38-6.

One of the many weak links in Cleveland’s play on Sunday was kicker Austin Seibert, who missed a field goal and an extra-point attempt in the game.

The Browns have apparently seen enough and have decided to waive Seibert, replacing him with Cody Parker, who will kick for the team on Thursday night when they play the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals had their share of kicking woes on Sunday as well, with kicker Randy Bullock missing a 31-yard field goal attempt that could have tied the game and sent it into overtime. Instead, the Bengals fell to the Los Angeles Chargers 16-3.

However, kicking was probably the least of Cleveland’s problems on Sunday. Their biggest was that they couldn’t stop the Baltimore offense. Cleveland looked as hapless as ever, with reigning league MVP, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson, shredding the Cleveland secondary for 275 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Things didn’t look much better on offense either. Browns QB Baker Mayfield threw an interception on the opening series and the Browns went on to have two more turnovers in the blowout Week 1 loss.

The Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with running back Kareem Hunt that’s worth $13.5 million.

According to reports, the deal includes $8.5 million in guaranteed money.

Hunt was signed by the Browns in 2019 after being released by Kansas City, where he made a name for himself as an explosive running and pass-catching threat.

Hunt was released by the Chiefs after a video surfaced of Hunt kicking and pushing a woman in a Cleveland hotel. The team released a statement saying that Hunt was dishonest when asked about the incident. The incident landed Hunt on the Commissioner’s exempt list, after which he was suspended for the first eight games of the 2019 season.

However, Hunt was able to show enough to the Browns over the next eight games to earn himself a nice extension. Hunt and the Browns’ premier running back Nick Chubb make a great “thunder and lightning” tandem, with Hunt adding an extra element to the offensive as an explosive passing threat out of the backfield.

Over the last eight games of the 2019 season, Hunt amassed 464 yards from scrimmage running, scored three touchdowns, and earned a career-high 5.8 yards per touch.

Browns’ tight end David Njoku wants to leave the team, but that apparently has nothing to do with the city of Cleveland.

Njoku went on social media on Tuesday, writing that he loves the city of Cleveland with all his heart and that he appreciates everything they’ve done for him.

This tweet comes weeks after Njoku officially asked Browns to trade him. The 24-year-old former first-round pick reportedly feels the change of scenery would be the best option for his career moving forward.

Despite showing promise, David Njoku failed to reach his potential in the NFL so far. Njoku had 56 receptions for 639 yards and four touchdowns in 2018, but then followed that up with just five catches in four games last season. He missed the remaining five with a broken wrist.

Njoku is facing tough competition for snaps this season, which is why he probably wants out. Browns acquired Pro Bowl TE Austin Hooper in free agency and then drafted Florida Atlantic’s Harrison Bryant in the fourth round of 2020 NFL Draft.

Still, Cleveland doesn’t seem in a hurry to move Njoku. They have him under contract for two more years and apparently won’t trade him unless they receive a satisfying offer.

Cleveland Browns are saying goodbye to another veteran. The team announced on Tuesday that they have released linebacker Christian Kirksey.

Kirksey, who was one of the Browns’ longest-tenured players remaining on the team this year, is leaving the franchise after six seasons. According to ESPN’s Jake Trotter, Cleveland was interested in keeping the 27-year-old on their roster but on a restructured deal. After two sides couldn’t agree on new terms, the breakup emerged as the logical solution.

Browns’ decision to cut Kirksey shouldn’t come as a surprise. Since his four-year, $38 million contract extension kicked in prior to the 2018 NFL season, he only played eight games due to various injuries. He was set to earn $7.75 million in 2020 and $8.25 million in 2021.

“Christian Kirksey has been a vital member of our organization for the last six seasons because of his contributions on and off the field,” said new Browns’ general manager Andrew Berry. “He has been a strong leader both in our locker room and in the Cleveland community. These are difficult decisions and, in Christian’s case, more challenging because of how well he has represented our team. We thank him for his dedication and wish him nothing but the best in the next phase of his career.”

Christian Kirksey entered the league in 2014 when Browns took him with a third-round pick in that year’s draft. Since then, he played 73 games (54 starts) and managed to contribute with 48 tackles and 11.5 sacks. He also had two interceptions and 16 pass deflections.

While his time in Cleveland has come to an end, Kirksey shouldn’t have a tough time finding a new job in NFL. According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, he already has three visits scheduled with several more likely to come if he doesn’t get signed right away.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver decided to undergo hip surgery this month after dealing with pain in the area throughout the 2019 NFL season, a procedure that both he and the team hope that leads him to an even more productive 2020.

The former Miami Dolphin, who was considered to be the second half of a perfect one-two punch with Odell Beckham Jr. heading into the 2019 season, held up his end of the bargain last year, catching 83 passes for 1,174 yards and 6 touchdowns.

In fact, due to a lack of production from Beckham that was largely related to injuries, he remained the team’s most productive wideout.

He was able to put up big numbers in a disappointing 2019 season for the Browns despite the dysfunction in the team and his hip injury. He was named a Pro Bowler for the fifth consecutive season and reportedly realized that he needed the surgery after undergoing more severe pain during this exhibition game.

Landry is expected to be ready to go for the beginning of the 2020 season despite going under the knife. The team expects him to be ready for Training Camp, which is set to begin in late July.

Cleveland Browns have been struggling on several positions in the offensive line this season, but the center wasn’t one of them. JC Tretter has been performing exceptionally in 2019, and he is now getting rewarded for it.

Browns announced on Thursday that they have signed Tretter to a three-year extension, which will see him stay with the franchise through 2022. According to NFL Network, the deal is worth $32.5 million with $23 million being in guaranteed money.

“JC Tretter embodies all of the qualities that you look for in a football player,” – said general manager John Dorsey in a statement. “He’s smart. He’s tough. He’s physical. He’s a hard worker. He’s a leader and not just in the offensive line room, but for our entire football team. We are very excited to have JC remain a Cleveland Brown for years to come.”

Tretter joined Browns in 2017 as a free agent. Since then, he started every game and has been getting better each year. In 2019, he is graded as the 8th best overall center in the league by Pro Football Focus’ metrics.

“It was an easy decision to stay,” said Tretter after inking the deal. “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue my career as a Cleveland Brown. Thank you to my friends and family who have supported me along the way. Now, it’s time to get back to work!”

JC Tretter started his career in Green Bay after Packers took him in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was in and out of the starting lineup for the Packers, as he struggled with injuries early in his pro career. The injuries were the reason why Green Bay decided to move on from him, but luckily for Cleveland, that doesn’t seem to be an issue anymore.

Cleveland Browns are eager to see their newly-acquired Pro-Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in action, but that might not happen soon enough. According to ESPN, Beckham is currently dealing with a hip injury and is being held out of practice.

Beckham missed or had limited participation in six out of 15 Browns’ practices so far, while sitting out the team’s preseason opener against Washington Redskins. He was also forced to take a day off due to illness.

Browns’ head coach Freddie Kitchens confirmed on Wednesday that Beckham is dealing with an injury, but didn’t reveal any further details.

“He’s got a little bit of something going on but we expect him back pretty soon,” – Kitchens told reporters.

Kitchens left the open possibility for Beckham to play in their second preseason game on Saturday, but added that they “haven’t decided yet.”

Odell Beckham’s prolonged absence from the practices might be worrying for Cleveland Browns, given the fact that he joined the organization only several months ago. On top of that, he also missed all the team’s voluntary offseason workouts as well as the extra minicamp.

Still, Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield is convinced that he will have no problem connecting with Beckham once he is fully ready.

“We have the next-man-up mentality,” – said Mayfield after Wednesday’s practice. “Obviously, he’s going to be ready to go when it’s time to play. Him sitting out and doing some of these things mentally is him getting used to the offense and seeing different things and hearing us communicating it.”

The NFL Preseason Football kicked off last night with the first 11 games, marking the start of the newest 2019-20 season. This season, the reigning champions, the New England Patriots, will defend the throne they won last year.

Most of the teams made some huge trades during the offseason period. These reinforcements took to the fields for their new teams, making some good impacts on the results.

People’s attention was focused on the Cleveland Browns and their much-improved roster this preseason. They added former Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Junior and their new starting quarterback Baker Mayfield, as well as former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt.

The Browns won their first Preseason opener against the Redskins with a final score of 30-10. Mayfield threw 77 yards with only 1 miss (6/7 from the field) before being replaced with the rookie QB Garret Gilbert.

The champions New England Patriots kicked off their 2019-20 season with a huge win over the Lions, even playing without their star QB Tom Brady at Ford Field with a final result of 31-3.

Baltimore Ravens earned the biggest win in the first week by trashing the Jaguars 29-0, allowing the home side to only throw 65 yards and rush for only 68.

The Preseason continues this week with 5 more games.

Although Cleveland Browns’ running back Duke Johnson asked for a trade back in March, he still decided to attend the team’s minicamp that started on Tuesday. This prompted many to assume that Johnson changed his mind about leaving Cleveland, but it turns out this isn’t the case.

”I want to be somewhere I’m wanted,” – said Johnson while talking with reporters.

”I’m big on loyalty,” – he added. ”I’ve felt as I’ve been loyal to this organization through it all, and the moment that I no longer have loyalty – and that’s even in my personal life, friends, family, the moment the loyalty stops, it stops on both ends. It’s not a one-way street. It stops on my end.”

Johnson, who was a third-round pick in 2015, later explained that Browns tried to trade him a month before he filed a trade request.  The 25-year-old also stated that he is set on leaving and that he doesn’t expect this situation will change.

Despite Johnson’s desires to be traded, the Browns indicated that they are not in a hurry to grant his wish. A few weeks ago, Cleveland’s general manager John Dorsey told the media that they still see him as a member of the team and count on him for 2019.

After having more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage in 2017, Duke Johnson saw his role getting diminished last season in favor of rookie Nick Chubb. Johnson ended 2018 with career-low 40 carries for 201 yards and 47 catches for 429 yards. He failed to score a rushing touchdown for the first time since his rookie season but managed to add three receiving TDs.

In what may end up being the most impactful and consequential move of the NFL offseason, one of the NFL’s top wide receivers is on the move.

The Cleveland Browns have acquired All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in a stunning trade with the New York Giants.

Beckham, who has been one of the NFL’s biggest stars since entering the league in 2014, joins a franchise on the rise that’s looking to do big things.

The Browns gave up a first-round draft pick, a third-round pick, and safety Jabril Peppers in exchange for Beckham.

Beckham signed a five-year, $95 million dollar contract extension with the Giants before the beginning of last season.

His list of accolades is impressive, having been named to the Pro Bowl three times and having won the NFL Rookie of the Year award in 2014.

Despite only playing in 12 games last season, Beckham caught 77 passes for 1,052 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Now, he’ll join an offensive attack led by quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Jarvis Landry that looks to be one of the strongest in the league.

The Cleveland Browns are a rejuvenated franchise now, and they look to be on the move to cement their position as one of the NFL’s top teams after years of irrelevance.
