Fuld has a lot of experience with analytics which many believe is his strong suit. Experts believe that the relationship between Fuld and Dombrowski will be a very complimentary one.

Philadelphia has not seen the postseason and has not finished a season over .500 since 2011. They went 28-32 during the shortened 2019-2020 season.

The move marks a radical change in the direction of the Red Sox, who had entrusted Dombrowski with the vast majority of their baseball operations decisions since hiring him in winter of 2015.

Dombrowski’s Red Sox won the AL East in each of his first three seasons at the helm of the team’s baseball operations. Their biggest triumph was the 2018 World Series title, which they won after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 4-1 series romp.

Many were surprised that Dombrowski, who has served as the head of baseball operations for the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, and Red Sox in a career that has spanned four decades, was let go despite this year’s disappointing results.

Now, Boston will look to bring in a new voice to lead their team forward in the future.
