Veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson got his wish to move on from the Los Angeles Rams. Jackson was waived by the Rams on Tuesday and will now be able to sign with the team that will give him more playing time than he had in LA.

The team confirmed the move on their official social media.

Jackson joined the Rams on a one-year deal in the offseason and envisioned playing a big role in the offense as a deep threat. But while the 34-year-old had a promising start to his stint in Los Angeles, his playing time diminished as the season progressed. This prompted the three-time Pro Bowler to ask for a trade, something the organization wasn’t opposed to.

The Rams had talks with several teams in recent days in attempts to trade Jackson but failed to find a deal that works for them. The interested parties believed the player will get released eventually and didn’t want to give up major assets for him.

Jackson leaves the Rams having made eight catches for 221 yards and one touchdown in seven games.

“I am very grateful for the time that I spent playing for the LA Rams,” said Jackson in a statement posted on social media. “Although this isn’t the outcome that we wanted, I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity & support given to me by the Rams coaches & all of the fans.”

Wideout DeSean Jackson’s second spell with the Philadelphia Eagles has come to an end after just two seasons. The franchise decided to release Jackson late last week, announcing the move on their social media.

Jackson joined Philly for the second time ahead of the 2019 NFL season in a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran, however, never managed to make an expected impact.

During the past two seasons, Jackson struggled with injuries and only managed to play eight games in total. This resulted in 23 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns.

Besides his inability to stay on the field, Jackson’s release was also influenced by the Eagles’ financial situation. Philadelphia will save around $6 million with the move, giving them a badly-needed relief as they attempt to get under the projected salary cap.

The Eagles are expected to release several more players in the coming days, including veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.

DeSean Jackson was drafted by Philadelphia with the second-round pick in 2008. He spent six seasons with the franchise in his first stint, earning three Pro Bowl selections and one All-Pro nod during that time.

Jackson left Philly in 2014 and went on to play for the Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay before returning home. He has 612 career catches for 10,656 yards and 56 touchdowns.
