Veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson got his wish to move on from the Los Angeles Rams. Jackson was waived by the Rams on Tuesday and will now be able to sign with the team that will give him more playing time than he had in LA.

The team confirmed the move on their official social media.

Jackson joined the Rams on a one-year deal in the offseason and envisioned playing a big role in the offense as a deep threat. But while the 34-year-old had a promising start to his stint in Los Angeles, his playing time diminished as the season progressed. This prompted the three-time Pro Bowler to ask for a trade, something the organization wasn’t opposed to.

The Rams had talks with several teams in recent days in attempts to trade Jackson but failed to find a deal that works for them. The interested parties believed the player will get released eventually and didn’t want to give up major assets for him.

Jackson leaves the Rams having made eight catches for 221 yards and one touchdown in seven games.

“I am very grateful for the time that I spent playing for the LA Rams,” said Jackson in a statement posted on social media. “Although this isn’t the outcome that we wanted, I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity & support given to me by the Rams coaches & all of the fans.”
