He was undrafted out of Vanderbilt in 2022. He was second in the SEC in scoring in his sophomore year, averaging 20.8 points, before ending the following season as the top scorer, averaging 20.4 points.
While the Grizzlies are providing Pippen with a platform to launch his NBA career, the guard is providing Memphis with much-needed relief amid an injury crisis. Ja Morant has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery, while Marcus Smart (finger) and Desmond Bane (ankle) will remain sidelined for at least another month.

]]>Biyombo performed well for the Grizzlies in Steven Adams’ absence, averaging 5.2 points and 6.4 rebounds in his 30 games, however, the Grizzlies needed to make a difficult call in order to provide room for Williams, who has evolved into a top-drawer wing defender. Still, Memphis has hinted that Biyombo may return during the course of the season.
Averaging 5.9 points and 5.1 rebounds, Williams will receive the most guaranteed money for a player who had been on a two-way contract. Currently 13th in the Western Conference standings, the Grizzlies will be hoping that Williams could boost the team over the remainder of the season.

]]>“We came in at halftime, regrouped, talked about it,” Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored 28 points on the night, explained. “Just came out firing [in the second half]. You chip away long enough, you’re going to make some noise.”
Joining Jackson in lifting the Grizzlies to victory was Desmond Bane, who scored 21 points as well as eight in overtime, and Tyus Jones, who grabbed his first career triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
In addition to their third-quarter deficit, the Grizzlies were also down by nine points in the final minute of the fourth quarter, scoring nine points to send the game into overtime.
Exceeding the 28-point comeback by the Brooklyn Nets against the Boston Celtics on March 3, this is also the largest comeback in Grizzlies’ franchise history.

]]>Bane suffered the injury during the Grizzlies’ 103-114 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night and was consequently unable to appear in the team’s 92-102 loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday night.
Currently in his third year with the team, Bane has delivered a stellar performance on the court this season, averaging career-high figures of 24.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. Averaging 3.8 three-pointers per game, Bane ranked fifth in the NBA for three-point shooters. He has also achieved a career-best of 45.1% of his long-range attempts.
The shooting guard’s injury comes at an inopportune time for the Grizzlies, particularly since power forward/center Jaren Jackson Jr. is set to make his debut for Memphis. The player’s late-season debut comes after he took several months to recover from surgery to repair a fracture to his right foot suffered this summer.

]]>The post Grizzlies Center Jonas Valanciunas to Decline 2019-20 Option appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Valanciunas, who was traded to Memphis from Toronto in February in a deal that sent Marc Gasol to the Raptors, had a very strong debut in Tennessee after the trade was completed.
He averaged a double-double with 19.9 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game after switching teams mid-season. This greatly outpaced his output with Toronto on the season. The Lithuanian big man averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game on the season.
After declining the $17.6 million option, Valanciunas will become a free agent. He will have the ability to test the waters as a free agent for the first time in his career. Before being traded to Memphis, the 27-year-old had spent the first 6.5 seasons of his career with the Raptors.
While Valanciunas will have the ability to sign with any team that he’d like after declining the option, reports suggest that his preference is to stay in Memphis. The Grizzlies were happy with his performance, and he would clearly be the focal point of Memphis’ roster if he is to stay there.
Now, Memphis must attempt to put together a contract offer to satisfy Valanciunas’s desires.
