The Memphis Grizzlies fought their way back from 29 points down in the third quarter to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 126-120 in overtime on Friday night. This is the largest comeback victory in the NBA season to date.

“We came in at halftime, regrouped, talked about it,” Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored 28 points on the night, explained. “Just came out firing [in the second half]. You chip away long enough, you’re going to make some noise.”

Joining Jackson in lifting the Grizzlies to victory was Desmond Bane, who scored 21 points as well as eight in overtime, and Tyus Jones, who grabbed his first career triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

In addition to their third-quarter deficit, the Grizzlies were also down by nine points in the final minute of the fourth quarter, scoring nine points to send the game into overtime.

Exceeding the 28-point comeback by the Brooklyn Nets against the Boston Celtics on March 3, this is also the largest comeback in Grizzlies’ franchise history.
