The official announcement of the HOF Class of 2023 will be made later this week during the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four in Houston.
Wade deserved his HOF status thanks to a storied career that included three NBA titles with the Heat. He was a 13-time All-Star, and also has an NBA Finals MVP award from 2006 on his resume.
Nowitzki is arguably the greatest player in the history of the Mavs. He led the franchise to its only NBA championship in 2011 while winning the MVP award in 2007 and being selected to 14 All-Star teams.
Popovich is one of the best basketball coaches in the history of the game. He won five NBA titles with the Spurs while being selected NBA Coach of the Year three times.

]]>Lasorda was a member of the Dodgers’ organization for 71 years. He first played professionally for the franchise while they were still the Brooklyn Dodgers. Lasorda later went on to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning the World Series twice.
The Hall of Fame manager suffered a sudden cardiopulmonary arrest on Thursday evening while at his home, according to a statement released by his family.
Lasorda’s playing career was short, pitching for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1954-1955. He got the Los Angeles managerial job in 1976 and spent two decades leading the Dodgers.
He was named National League Manager of the Year twice over that period of time and led the Dodgers to two World Championships in 1981 and 1988.
The Dodgers are the current MLB champions, with their 2020 World Series win being their first since Lasorda’s last one in 1988.
Lasorda was immediately inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 after retiring one year earlier.
The famed manager is survived by his wife Jo, their daughter Laura, and granddaughter Emily Tess.

]]>The post NFL Legend Deion Sanders Thinks Too Many Players are Getting into the Hall of Fame appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>According to Sanders, the Hall of Fame is inducting more players than it should, and this makes it “less exclusive.”
“What is a Hall of Famer now? Is it a guy who played a long time?” said Sanders during his appearance on Dan Patrick Show. “It’s so skewed now. Once upon a time, a Hall of Famer was a player who changed the darn game, who made you want to reach in your pocket and pay your admission to see that guy play. That’s not a Hall of Famer anymore. Every Tom, Dick and Harry, you’re a Hall of Famer, you’re a Hall of Famer, you’re a Hall of Famer. They let everybody in this thing. It’s not exclusive anymore. And I don’t like it.”
The number of inductees in Pro Football Hall of Fame increased in recent years, and there were six or more inductees in each year since 2006. In both 2018 and 2019, eight players were inducted. The number is expected to be high this year as well, with 15 players being on the list of potential inductees.
Deion Sanders, who played with five teams during his career, including Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers, well deserved his induction. He is considered one of the strongest pass defenders to play the game and had eight Pro Bowl selections and was First-Team All-Pro honoree nine times. Sanders also won NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1994 and has two Super Bowl rings.

]]>Starting pitchers Roy Halladay and Mike Mussina, closer Mariano Rivera, and designated hitter Edgar Martinez were elected by the votes of baseball writers to the Class of 2019.
The Veterans Committee, on the other hand, chose closer Lee Smith and infielder Harold Baines to be inducted.
The day was full of emotional moments as the always-tear jerking speeches were given by the former players.
Fans clad in Mariner teal came from Seattle to see the first-ever full-time Mariners player elected, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the late Roy Halladay’s wife Brandy read a speech in his honor after the former Phillies and Blue Jays starter died in a plane crash last year.
Fittingly, legendary Yankees closer and all-time saves leader was the last to speak, moving the crowd as he told the story of coming to the United States from Panama without knowing any English and ending his career as the game’s greatest reliever.
Six new plaques in Cooperstown will cement Halladay, Mussina, Baines, Martinez, Smith, and Rivera as parts of baseball’s storied history.
